Small but jet lag is jet lag. You know as well as I do that they struggle on trips to the West Coast. It could almost be it's own thing like Monday Night Magic or the Madden Curse.

How many years as a head coach does it take to accept this fact of life? JMO>

So the movement to a time zone that is 2-3 hours difference going West vs 4-5 hours East is a small thing? Didn't know that. How many times have you heard people not liking change to Daylight Saving Time or vise versa? JMO>

Steelers haven't beaten the Raiders on the West Coast since Neil O'Donnell was QB in 1995.

Same amount of time since the last Super Bowl victory by the Cowboys.

And all the more reason to get there early and acclimate to the time switch, humidity, heat and gambling distractions.

If this were the case it should be much harder for west coast teams to win in the east, since most people find the effects of jet lag are worse going east than west = easier to delay body clock than advance it.

I think losing to the Raiders is because too many players had undiagnosed peanut allergies from those flights.

In suicide pools I always followed the big east coast or west coast trips.

the team traveling usually lost the game.

Not to be a nit picker but, I'm going to be a nit picker. Vegas is not on the West Coast.
I'm not sure I'd want my players to be around those casinos any more than they have to be!

It is still two time zones though right? My folks and younger brother moved to Northern CA a year or so ago and they still struggle with remembering we are two hours ahead of them and when they were back for some family gatherings this spring the time difference really did a number on their sleep schedule.

On this one point, possibly Tomlin is trying to eliminate immature players from being attracted to nightlife magnetism in Vegas.

If so, it’s ridiculous these players would take any chances to peak performance with all that they could stand to lose.

People often throw their own youthful decisions in as a hall pass for mistakes that so many players have made. But did most of us have such opportunities in hand already to possibly lose? If hope I weighed the situation. Who knows.

We're in the same time zone true but, Vegas is still 4 1/2 hours from the coast. Semantics, I know, but for those of us who grew up on the coast, Vegas is "back East" in the desert!

Yes, the impact really is when you go east. Older people will feel it a bit more. We go to Hawaii every year and its a 6 hour difference from NJ but my kids are only crushed when we come back not when we go. All of us are fine going out and that's 6 hours. Same with England it's going East that can really mess you up. The key coming back is to take melatonin when you move east when its time to sleep its what your body releases when it's time to sleep. Come back from a big time change and its getting close to bed time, take melatonin it helps significantly to get your clock back on schedule.

It's called being a professional. When I started work in NYC at 21 and we traveled all over, our boss would come out as well but he said "we can have fun, but everyone answers the bell at 7:00am the next morning in the lobby. None of us ever f'd that up and there was no hangover bs going through the motions during the day, we worked our ass off because we only had so much time to get a lot of work done. If Tomlin has to set a curfew so be it, these dudes are being paid enormous amounts of money so man up and do your job.

Melatonin was discovered by Aaron B. Lerner and colleagues in 1958 as a substance of the pineal gland from cows that could induce skin lightening in common frogs.
