I would happily hire Bellichik as a stop gap, interim HC for a couple seasons while they search for a proper longterm replacement. I unironically think it would be to the franchise's longterm benefit to do something like that. Bill brings in an aura of seriousness, professionalism, and mental and physical discipline - something this team desperately needs - and he would probably have a hell of a lot more clout than Tomlin in terms of helping the front office to secure their next true HC and his personel.

 

The idea of having Bilicheck as Steelers head coach an interesting one, but would a 72 year old guy have the time and energy to go through a rebuilding process with a new team? Also, would Rooney even hire a 72 year old head coach, even one that's been as great as Belicheck? I know it will never happen, but like I said, it's an interesting idea

 

The Rooney Rule will dominate the process. If that gives us a great coach, great but I hope it doesn't handcuff us into passing on the best coach. The media pressure will be massive on the Steelers.
