Going to be tough move to make. We got to much money wrapped up and Green and to release him would be a mega huge cap hit.

that was fast... i was wondering with 24 picks in 2 years the browns have to shove off some decent players from the old roster...

Yeah they really have to make room as they draft with that many picks coming in. Insane that's almost half of a 53 man roster!

Cutting Green would save us 2.5 million per Spotrac, and their data is usually correct.

He was the Browns main offensive player.. he had a lot of yards last year for being a main target with extra coverage on him and having whoever throwing at QB... Sounds like a patch for the missed TE draft pick everyone is harping about.

They asked about it on asked and answered today. Basically since he is a receiving te he wouldn't fit the way the Steelers are going which is to use the TE to block and get all these WR's invloved and Bell.

Makes sense.. JuJu is like a mini TE.. The other TE's block and make some space for Bell.. It will be up to Ben to be great using his WR's. 30+ PPG.. I was in Miami for the Steelers game, Ben went down, Landry came in and played so bad.. Ben came back in.. He didn't play much better then Landry.... it was a long game in Miami... I hope Dobbs takes over #2.

I think that's what they use Martavis for when they line him up inside. He's basically a fast slightly undersized TE with his size. You can't put a LB on him so you'd have to drag a DB in from somewhere.

He would save us 3.312 mil and cost us 2.375 mil. IMO I would wait and see, he is to good of a weapon when healthy to just let him go right now. Next year he will save us 4.5 mil and only cost 1.187. At that point we will know if he is worth keeping, but right now as we sit here in win now mode I think we have no choice to hope for the best out of him. jmo

    The numbers are as follows:
2017 cap hit on roster: $5M salary + $1.187M allocation of signing bonus = $6.187M
Dead Money if cut: $1.187M signing bonus allocation x 3 remaining years = $3.563M
    Difference (rounded): $2.625M
Cutting him saves us a bit over $2.625M

They could also cut him after June 1, which would spread the dead cap space over 2 seasons (1 allocation this year, the remaining 2 the following year), which would save us 5 million in cap space this year.
    2017 Dead Cap: $1,187,500
    2018 Dead Cap: $2,375,000
    2017 Cap Savings: $5,000,000

Not that I had any interest in signing Barnidge...
But if we needed cap space to acquire Richard Sherman... well then....

Yes a savings that they can use to not bring in the best pure 3-4 NT to hit free agency in a long time, who is only looking for a one year prove it deal and who could vastly improve their pass rush by his mere presence while making the front seven a dominate force in the league, just to kick the tires. Nope instead we can use it to bring in a middle linebacker who was always going to resign with his team but who their defensive coordinator has a serious mean on for, waste time wining and dining him, offer him a contract worth more than he is really worth so that he can take it back to his original team and leverge a better deal out of them aND our guys can act all butt hurt when he does it even though they knew he was doing it to begin with!!!!.

Oh no wait......we already did that so might as well just keep Green and blow the money that way.

They signed UDFA Scott Orndoff TE Pitt 6-5 255 this week, he played 4 years at Pitt, see how he does in preseason, he had 35 receptions for 579 yards and 5 TDs last year, might be a good prospect obviously they know him from their own back yard, good luck Scott...

    Other FA signees:
