If it wasn't for Bam being such a dumbass we never would have had #36. We really should be thanking the guy.

Bam would be a good candidate to talk to the rookies coming into the NFL. Its a shame that so much talent went to waste

    A fair point!

On a side note, those screaming about the current team for its off-field activities migh remember that we were hardly squeaky clean either in the 90's either.

A good point. Consider this, to judge the immediate impact of #36-

after the 1995 season, the Steelers lost their starting qb (Neil O'Donnell), top pass rusher (Kevin Greene) and starting Rt and 2nd best OL (Leon Searcy) to free agency. Tom Newberry, another starting OL, retired, as did starting FB John L. Williams. Bam Morris, their leading rusher down the stretch and in the playoffs, was cut before the season. Greg Lloyd was injured in the first game of the 1996 season and missed the rest of the year. Yancey Thigpen, their best WR, also missed most of the season with injuries.

And yet, the 1996 Steelers won the AFC Central and went to the divisional playoffs. Why?- mainly because of the Bus. Taking a look back at that season reminds one of how important it is to have a big time RB, and how much difference that player can make for a team. The 2013 Steelers can fix a lot of problems by finding a new Bus.

Am I the only one that never thought he was that good?

Could have been an all time great? I was never satisfied to have him as our starter.

He had potential to be sure. I once saw him play in person against the Giants his rookie year when he rolled for 143 yards in the rain. and made it look easy. He was never that consistent though.
In the Super Bowl game, the Cowboys could not stop him by the end of the game. I've always felt if the Steelers had given him the ball, rather than try to go deep, in their ill fated Larry Allen ruined drive in the 4th quarter, the game might have ended differently.

Yeah I didn't mind him, I just thought of him as more of an Isaac Redman type. A good beater, great for wearing down teams and short yardage, but still needs Erric Pegram around to complement him. I never thought of him as complete enough to be the starter. Of course, I was 10 at the time.
