Because Houston had no interest in Baker, they like Davis Mills or they might draft another QB.

Baker is not worth a first round pick. For anything less, he is not worth $18MM.

BakerMayfield. No way, we have 3 QB’s sitting on the bench that needs coaching and can’t get it done we surely don’t need a fourth.

The Steelers take players no other team wants.

He is no good and was on a very good team yet still looked terrible. Stud O-line, stud running game, and good receivers. Everyone that says Baker is good goes off two seasons ago when the Browns beat us in that playoff game at home. We were on our last leg that season and everyone knew we were going to get beat. Mitch is already a headache to me then bring in Baker Mayfield, NO.

Speaking for myself, I would have zero interest in watching a Baker Mayfield led Steelers team.

Baker did play hurt from week 2 on I believe... Pretty sure he's a little better than how he played last season... Should have shut it down if he wasn't healthy... Upgrade over Mason if he comes free of charge, meaning no draft pics

I don't actually think He's a up grade over Mason. I had them both at 2nd round picks. One just played at a way better college. JMO.
Matter of fact . I think Mason has a stronger arm. If that means anything.

Just feel like by now we should have seen SOMETHING from Mason. He just looks real average

Not like He's played a whole lot, or will be. Also I'm not saying He's great. I'm saying He's as good as Baker. JMO

    This.

If it wasn't for his bitchiness for lack of a better term, bring him in. He is what he is at this point as a player, but he's kind of a drama queen for a QB. Let him go to the NFC.

He couldn't shut it down cause he was playing for a contract. Sadly it backfired.

Baker did walk on at Texas tech and win the job. So I don't think his success is all due to Oklahoma.

We already have Mitch and Mason we don’t need a QB room of misfits.

As I said before, no way do the Clowns just release him. So this whole debate was moot before it ever got started. That said, in the fantasy world where he did join the Steelers, seeing him in a #6 jersey would be more than just a little appropriate. If there's one Steelers starter in our history that he reminds me the most of it's, yep, you guessed it, our beloved very own #6, Bubby Brister.

I agree, but if You watch His game tape at Sooners, and Mason at OK state....the biggest difference is the teams. IMO. I'm quite sure Mason would have done just as well at the Sooners.

So, are you thinking they eat the $18MM salary to have him sit on the bench

Because that is the only other likely scenario

They have to eat that salary, unless some other team assumes part of it.
Cutting him won't make a guaranteed salary go away.
The Browns won't let him go for absolutely nothing.
They will want some kind of compensation, since they won't be getting a comp pick from free agency.
