Since Austin is still under contract, a likely option is that MT does stay out of Austin’s way and we find out it’s the same scheme

We hear this thing all the time and mostly from fans. You have to ask yourself has anyone ever seen Tomlin on the sidelines with a play call sheet? Now according to some he’s calling both the offense and defense and he’s doing so from memory? He’s memorized the entire playbook for both sides of the ball? To me the far more likely scenario is that he does what head coaches do. That is what we saw on hard knocks a week or two back. He tells the offensive coordinator he wants to go for it and wants a rhythm pass. Everything else is left up to the coordinator

 

I agree with this. I don't think Tomlin calls plays on either side of the ball. He overrides calls on O and D occasionally, but that's about it. Still.... Steelers need a new Head Coach.

On occasion Tomlin does have a small like index card out during the games, but you don't see him constantly talking into his headset. Some fans confuse Tomlin being involved in the game planning with actually making the game day calls.

 

Both of these coaches are signed until 2026.

They both need to go, but the Steelers hate paying coaches not working.

And they still brought him back for his last year of his contract. Canada should have been gone before the season started, not let go midway through the season.
