Browns down 21-3 to Niners at the half. Steelers blew a tremendous opportunity yesterday letting that game get away. They would have been 2-3 and 2-0 in the division and In first place at the end of the night. Instead they are 1-4 and 2 games behind the Ravens and hanging on for dear life to keep their season alive.

I’ll keep saying this and I’ll stand by this the Ravens will be 4-4 after 8 games and the Browns I feel will either be 4-4 or 3-5 after 8 games looking at both their schedules the next 3-4 weeks. So assuming the Steelers beat Miami if they can win either this Chargers game this Sunday or the Colts game at home in early November and get to 3-5 after 8 games they will still be in this race come early November. The Ravens and Browns schedule over the next 3-4 weeks is the Steelers best friend right now. At some point though they gotta win a few games to take advantage of it.

Normally if you are 1-4 the season is done but the other 3 teams in the division aren't really that great. I am watching the Browns getting their arses kicked at halftime by the 49ers 21-3 and it could be a lot worse and they crushed the Ravens last week so who knows?

9-7 will win the division. 10-6 at best.
So, until we lose the 6th or 7th, it won't be over.

Not trying to be extremely optimistic, but after the bye, we can be 3-4. Ratbirds with difficult schedule. Many divisional games left...

Come on, we've lost against NE, SF and SEA (3 playoff caliber teams).
And 3 of our 4 losses were really one play away. Close games with our 2nd stringer. Defense is getting better...

Yes, I still see a season developing for us...

Only way in is winning the division. Since the best team in the division is the Ratbirds, playoff possibility not over because they are not so good, but what`s the point with KC and NE out there.

It's a long football season. A lot of thing can gappen. And, as we've learned, injuries happen too, even to elite players. KC + NE rely so much on one guy, that any injury to them will re-make the wider picture and playoff panorama.

Also... KC has lost already to an (apparently) inferior opponent.

Turns out that Seattle and San Francisco are really good. If BR stays healthy, this team is at worst 3-2, possibly 4-1 and runnng away with the division. And yet there are people here who want to blow it up and start all over again next year.

That depends on what you mean by over. Is it over in terms of having a realistic opportunity to make the playoffs? I think so. Is it over in terms of not watching the rest of the games? Of course not. My formative years as a Steelers fan were the '80s. I've seen this organization produce bad teams. I'm still going to follow them just as closely regardless of the record. I'm just realistic about what I see on the field.

The 80's was a rough stretch for the Steelers. Just curious, but what endeared you to Pittsburgh?

I'm looking forward to the eventual QB battle if Hodges somehow leads the team to a win in LA on Sunday Night. Hodges vs. Rudolph could get very interesting. I don't care at this point... may the best QB win.

Plus, Browns lost bad at SF. Steelers are 3 games back on Ravens due to tie breaker with 11 games remaining. It's not over... yet.

I was wondering the same thing. What if Hodges throws for over 300 yards and 3 TD's in a win for the Steelers. If Rudolph is cleared to play after the bye week I wonder who Tomlin would start against the Dolphins? I think he would probably go back to Rudolph.
