Both a center and ot are they better off selecting a center in the first and tackle in the 2nd or 3rd? Or an OT in the first and a center in the 2nd or 3rd?

This is a deep class at both positions so either order would work

JPJ is probably the only center that will get first round consideration, I say take the OT in the first round, then take your chances of finding the center in the second round they tend to drop.

Mims the RT from Georgia in the first and Zach Frazier the Center from West Virginia in the second.

Without any trades our draft selections are 20,51,84,120,121 thru four rds..
Now lets see how we can improve our roster.

I'm not focused in on any specific player just yet. I do like Jackson Powers-Johnson, Zach Frazier, and Sedric Van Pran at the Center position. After these 3 it seems there is a significant dropoff. This is according to draft/scouting sites only. The Steelers may, and typically do, have a different way of measuring the Center position. Drake Nugent from Michigan is an alternate mid round center prospect, as well ad Tanor Bortolini from Wisconsin. But the mid round steal could be Sincere Haynesworth out of Tulane. Haynesworth is shorter but with plus wingspan, and is a smart, technically and fundamentally sound with 60 college games, 50 at Center.

As for OT, after Joe Alt, Olumuyiwa Fashanu, and Taliese Fuaga, it's either JC Latham or Amarius Mims. If drafting Tackle this draft, I would go OT in the 1st round, preferably RT. Then Center in round 2,3, or with one of our 4th round picks.

Let's hope we can get our center at our pick, not so sure Frazier is going to be there when we pick.

Depends on what Tackles are available when they pick. If Fashanu, Alt, Latham or the Oregon kid make it to 20, then you take a Tackle as it's just a premium position ( Not to mention, it gels with my idea of only drafting premium positions in the 1st rd: QB, T, DE, CB).

But if we are down to the experimental or flawed guys: Guyton, Mims, Morgan etc. then a surefire Probowl Center seems as good a deal.

Personally, it think it becomes a tough question if it's Mims v Powers.

Despite my rules, I lean Powers Johnson personally. And that's because there are a few. 2nd/3rd rd tackles I like.

    A: Talent matching need approach:
    1. Powes Johnson C
    2 T'Vondre Sweat DT
    3. Mike Sainristil CB
    4. Roger Rose garden OT
    5 Brendan Rice WR

    B: Premium lines approach T
    1. Mims
    2. Zach Frazier ( or Van Pran) C
    3. McKinney Jackson DT
    4.Brendan Rice WR
    5. Jarius Monroe/ Dwight McGlothern

    C: STD Special

    1. Nate Wiggins/ Kool Aid/ DeJean. CB
    2. Kiran Amegbaije/ Patrick Paul
    3. Mike Sainristil Nickel
    4. Mehki Wingo DT
    5. Junior Colson LB

What the Steelers would most likely do:
    1. Powers Johnson or Quinton Mitchell
    2. Xavier Leggette WR S. Carolina
    3. Spencer Rattler QB
    4. Renardo Green or Beaux Limer (CB/ Corner)
    5 Marshawn Kneeland DE

Only once in the last 10 years have 3 centers been chosen before pick 51, and none of them are household names, even to football fans. Usually the second center comes off around 47-52. And for those of you so high on Creed Humphrey, he was the 3rd center taken that year. So if one of the premium tackles (Alt, Fashanu, Fuaga, Latham, or Mims) is there, you go T then C. If not, It's between Powers-Jackson, Nate Wiggins, and DeJean.

I think Frazier will be there in the second round, he probably won't be working out at the combine due to his injury last season.

He, like JPJ, keeps moving up the big boards. Outside of Walter, who has them at 62 and 65, I've seen JPJ as high as 17 and Frazier in the mid-30's. Even getting JPJ in the first is becoming less of a sure thing.

    Tackles agree 100%.

Centers?! Jackson Powers Johnson, Zach Frazier and Sedrick Van Pran. Those three are more or less the 2024 Class for Centers.

Graham Barton is being projected to play center in the NFL.

A lot will probably depend on how much he's able to go at the Combine and on his pro day.

True but he has not seen action since his Freshman year at Duke. I am not certain that the Steelers are willing to stomach the "Kendrick Green Experience" all over again; doubly so now that Omar Kahn's message has been very clear; produce or get put out.

He'll probably get a lot of work at center during the Combine and his Pro Day. He's generally higher rated than Powers-Johnson as a lineman, but not necessarily as a center. We'll have to see.

He is more highly rated as while JPJ will likely see a Pro Bowl or two during his Rookie Contract, depending on where Barton lands, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he has a First Team All Pro nomination for his Rookie Contract duration. Barton will be rock solid as an Offensive Tackle but we are talking about perennial All Pro Potential on the inside.

Sounds familiar doesn't it. Peter Skoronski was very much in the same boat a season ago. Granted, he didn't look all that impressive initially but got much better as the season went on. Expect the same for Barton.

At the combine, the Steelers have officially met with first rounders Amarius Mims (t), JC Latham (t), and Graham Barton (IOL), Second round center Sedrick Van Pran, and third rounder Blake Fisher (t).

After Kahn’s press conference the other day I wouldn’t be so sure about that. According to him Herbig is a potential solution as are other members of the team with position flexibility. If I remember correctly herbig has 46 career snaps at center.
