Looks pretty cool. I only own the first one, and I don't think I ever finished it. You'll have to let me know if it lives up to expectations.

I haven't played it yet. but I can answer that already sight unseen. Yes and more.

That was easily the case with AC:2 and AC:Brotherhood. Each surpassed their immediate predecessor by miles. The first AC, while a great game for its time, is a load of steaming manure compared to the other 2. And each new game takes the previous game, puts it on steroids, refines it, and makes it date a Victoria's Secret model. So, if the past is prologue, this game will melt my face.

Must be the one that comes out at midnight. My son is down at gamestop waiting for it!

Yeah. In my neck of the boonies, we only recently got a Gamestop. By recently, I mean this month. Since they're so new, they're unable to hold midnight releases just yet. But I already have it on pre-order, so heading out to Walmart isn't an option.

I COULD drive 20 miles and pick it up. But I'll be content to play MW3 tonight and pick it up in the morning.

OK I guess it is cool. My son is all geeked up about it. Have to admit I haven't played any of them. Maybe will have to try it out with him tomorrow.

    Gameplay-wise, you'll love it.

Story wise, you're going to be soooooooo lost. :roflmao: I pity the fool who tries to make this into a movie. There's no way they'll get it right. There's too many small details that cannot be overlooked. And since Hollywood thinks the average person has the IQ of a partially dehydrated house plant (sadly, they're almost right about that), they'll try to dumb it down. Which will only kill what makes the story so damned awesome.

I'm still furious at the abominations that were the Hitman and Max Payne movies.

I didn't know they even had midnight releases. The nearest gamestop is about a 25 minute drive from me and I'm not sure if they are open that late or not. Guess my hickness is showing. I thought I remembered hearing that there was a movie in the works, and sure enough... Assasin's Creed Movie

Doesn't surprise me. Possibly more than most, if not all games, Assassin's Creed has "epic movie" written all over it. The best part of that article is that they said Ubisoft has almost total control over the project. That's good news. The reason why most video game movies suck (or at least, aren't what fans of the game like) is that some studio takes it. Has no idea what makes the story appealing. Does something VAGUELY similar in look, and ignores the fact that the game already has a built in mythology... and tries to make their own. Hitman was the most glaring example of that. Whoever wrote that script should be shot in the head with a silenced .45. Visually, it was almost right, but story.. wait, what am I talking about? What story? It was convoluted at best. And the whole mythos built around 47 for years over several games was thrown out the window and turned him into... not 47.

Ubisoft takes the Assassin's Creed story pretty seriously. They do their homework. If they keep that approach for a movie, it could rock. Just don't cast Marky Mark or Aaron Rogers, er, I mean Jake Gyllenhaal.

And yes, Gamestop has had midnight releases going all the way back to Halo 2. Walmart does it too for the more popular games.

Interesting that they're keeping so much creative control over it. The author mentioned Doom. Wow, now there's a game movie that wasn't worth the cameras it was recorded on.

OK, I should have clarified that I knew midnight releases existed, just didn't realize Gamestops did it. Walmart's always got a midnight release advertisement going it seems.

The last midnight release my son went to at gamestop was for black ops. They actually had some GI's and a freaking tank up there in the parking lot! It was pretty cool.

Finally finished the whole thing. Now I'm itching for Assassin's Creed 3. :roflmao:

I never played their on-line portion of the game. Think I'll give this one a whirl, especially as hiccuping as MW3 has been lately. That's getting patched soon, but until then...

What kind of hiccuping? I haven't had a whole lot of time to play, but on the handful of nights this past week I did, I didn't notice anything. Lots of forced updates recently, but that's normal. I wasn't kidding about the Black Ops maps. Two (three?) are right out of BO, just different a season. Same with some of the perks.

Apparently their lag correction (or maybe latency correction is a more accurate term) is all borked now. There's lots of complaints on the forums about HUGE lag differentials allowing people with really bad connections to be virtually unbeatable. Think the old host invincibility in reverse. So you could have low ping, but another guy is playing on dial-up (exaggerating). The lag correction starts time at HIS time, not yours. Either you're pelting him with a full clip until it finally decides he's dead, or you fire what should kill him, and stop, then he fires. Your first 20 bullets never even registered... even if you got hit markers.

It's actually bad enough, some people are streaming/downloading to artificially make their ping bad. Ugh. Legal lag switching FTL.

I guess it was bad enough, IW addressed it and said a patch is incoming. I haven't played since Monday, but even before that I was noticing things were a bit... hinky. I thought I had a bad connection, turns out, maybe not.

On a side note: AC's multi-player is... interesting. Kind of addictive, but a completely different mind set than what I'm used to.

Thanks for the information. That actually explains a couple things I've noticed on there.

I could google it, but if you don't mind, could you enlighten me on how that kind of game works online? Is it team based or free for all? I've only played fps games on xbox live.

I haven't played all of the game types yet. There are team based objective games that you have to level up to unlock I'm guessing. Mostly what I've played is their version of TDM, free-for-all, etc. But I only levelled to 7 so far, and there's 50 levels.

The thing is, it isn't about going Merc crazy. The team or person that wins, doesn't do so by simply getting the most kills. HOW you kill scores more points. I actually won one of my matches with only 8 kills, while another guy had 19 and finished 7th. And also, WHO you kill is important too. You're given a random target. If you kill him, you score. If you kill him in an extra sneaky way, you score big. If you kill anyone else, you get no points and your target resets. Meanwhile, someone is targetting YOU. You have no way of knowing who it is. But your "senses" will crawl when your assassin is close by (you hear feint, creepy whispers). If you can spot him first, you can counter him (stun him). Then your assassin is reset, you score points, and he doesn't. It's all about concealing yourself in the open, being cool and patient, yet aggressive when the time is ripe to strike. I should mention there's ways to hide in plain sight (sitting on a bench, blending into crowds), and you and your opponents are NOT the only people in the map. There's tons of NPCs who are programmed to act rather randomly to confuse you on who is a target and who is not. Plus, there's buildings to climb, and true hiding places too. My first couple games, I had no idea WTF was going on. I'm starting to get the hang of it though.

That's just for the basic play types. The other match types might be more openly aggressive and faster, at least some of them. I can't wait to try them all.

Yep. I still haven't figured everything out yet. But I'm learning. The first couple matches, I felt like:

Then I started to put it together and doing ok, and I was all:
