I think he will be the most improved player on defense, your thoughts?

A large contingent of Pittsburgh's defensive future hinges on his performance.

Should he fail, all the defensive rebuilding done since 2013 will have been for nothing.

I think your right, with an honorable mention to Sean Davis.

Until he can show me he wants to tackle, I am rooting for Mike Hilton or Cam Sutton for the other CB
    job.

I'm holding out hope but to be honest I just don't think he is that good. I thought he was even more of a reach than the Edmunds pick this draft but he seemed ok at first. However it looked as if he has reached his ceiling as his play last season looked worse than the rookie season as teams now throw to his side regularly. The small glimmer of hope I have for him is that the problem was a coaching issue but again, I'm not overly optimistic when it comes to him or Sean Davis.

Last year Labriola was touting Burns as the most improved player in camp, as I recall.

Overall he didn't live up to that in the season, although we should take some account of a) the appalling safety play and b) the encouragement players were clearly given to be more aggressive and take risks. The two put together is basically why we had so many big plays against us, imo.

I want to see him get a few INT's. Need some of those splisy splash plays, or whatever they call them now days.

I hope the bump and run coverage is being used for training camp purposes only.

that's a terrible metric to base Artie on.

put any corner 1v1 on AB and they will get toast more often than not.

Agree. I'm not sold on Burns. I think he's on par with DeWayne Washington and Chad Scott, exceptionally average and definitely not on Ike Taylor's level.

Entering his 3rd year and should have a tool box full of savvy from the first two. (1) INT last year certainly should be improved. I feel he will again be shackled by Keith Butler incompetence & not placed in a defensive scheme that will be respected by opposing QB's. That factor left our team when Dick LeBeau was dismissed -IMO.

I remember them hyping him up last year because he was going against AB and looking good and it never translated. I hope it does this year.

Washington and Scott were more willing to be physical than Burns, but I do think Scott is a good comparison.

Burns actually did play fairly well early, but his play deteriorated as the season went on. He gave up far too many big plays, most of the time because he seemed to either lose focus or get caught peeking in the backfield rather than paying attention to his man.

Blasphemy. Citing a CB to be on par with Chard Scott and DooWayne Scorch-ington is akin to calling a meat eater Jeffrey Dahmer.

DeWayne Washington had 2 pick 6's in one game. Which means he did more in one game than Bud Dupree and Jarvis Jones did in their entire careers.
