Probably just based on total body of work this year and really Davis seems to have had the light come on more in the last month or so as opposed to the whole year. Still excited about him though. He blew up multiple plays against Cleveland and also had a nice sack. I like Burns a lot too because it seems like he really wants to go for the ball and jump routes. Eventually that's gonna work. Although eventually it's gonna maybe get us, um, burned, as well and then I will probably have to talk myself back in to loving him again. LOL!

Seems like a numbers game. Perhaps Vonn Bell had more tackles.

I thought that we would draft Von bell but in the long run... I think Sean Davis will have a better NFL career

I figured they would both end up starters but man the upside for both is unreal. they look like vets out there now. I mean they still make mistakes but both make less than Mitchell.

I think if we can get another corner and mitchells replacement we could go from having one of the worst to one of the best secondaries in the league in just 2 years

I think you can fairly say Davis was more productive then Von Bell if you look at impact per start. Davis only had 9 starts. VonBell had 14 starts.

Davis had more 1.5 sacks vs 1 sack. 5 passes defended vs 4. 1 INT vs ZERO. and he did this with 5 less starts and often playing corner before being moved to his natural position SS.

Von Bell had 5 more solo tackles than Davis in 5 more starts. Seems to be Davis was more productive per start. Even the #'s support this.

All that said I don't think Davis was an amazing rookie. I don't recall too many plays involving Davis were I thought "wow this guy's going to be special" He's off to a good start. Troy P didn't do anything his rookie year so maybe Davis will be something special. He's on the right track. We shall see.

Any stats for missed tackles available? While he is solid in coverage and really good near the LOS, It seems Davis has trouble with tackles in the open field. It happened against the Browns on Sunday and Darren Sproles made him look real bad on the screen pass he took to the house.

I'm just impressed we found 3 defensive future starters in one draft. Not saying that this draft is the 74 draft. But after one season this draft looks pretty awesome.

Even more amazing that two of our 7th rounders got playing time on the main roster this year. That is almost unheard of, as almost half of 7th rounders don't even make a squad.

News: Davis had a team-high nine tackles (eight solo), including a sack and a fumble recovery in the Steelers' overtime win against the Browns on Sunday. (Sun Jan 1)

This was another solid effort by the rookie safety, helping to lead Pittsburgh to their seventh straight victory after a 4-5 start. Davis finished the season with 70 tackles (55 solo), including 1.5 sacks and two interceptions.

I play a lot of fantasy football in big money leagues. That means really studying guys, especially defensive players who don't get the attention offensive guys do in the stats dominated world. Vonn Bell played really well most of the year. I watched quite a few of his games and ended up picking him up in most of my fantasy leagues. I know that fantasy is not real life, but the point is that he was playing very well early and was looking like a stud in the making. Davis struggled for the first half of the season.

I think the right call was made

Davis is playing well, and imo another season and he could be Pro Bowl for years to come.

The one negative on Davis what the personal foul against the Cowboys on the final terrible drive.

I absolutely love what I saw from Davis this year. He looks like he can be an absolute stud in the making (maybe the best player from the draft). All three rookies really turned the corner at the end of the season. I'm excited to see what they have in store for us in the future!

That being said I'm sure it was number of starts and maybe numbers for the snub, idk. I don't watch enough Vikings game to notice what Bell has been doing so I can't attest to his level of play. Either way I think Sean had an awesome rookie season for us and I hope he continues to perform into the post season.

I've seen enough to think he will be very good... but he isn't yet, so, whatever.

Two of our DBs in the talks about the top 25 rookies?? Praise the frickin big Guy!!! One recognized by the national media and one honored by the team itself. That just means we finally drafted some players for our defensive backfield. I'll take that as a win all day. It seems its been awhile.

Early on he was missing tackles and taking horrible angles but he has done well the last month. The only real knock on him is he isn't good in coverage but not many SS are good coverage guys so I'd say he is one of the better ones.
