The defense has been in transition. New defensive coordinator, aging vets being replaced and starting rookies their first season.

And with all this we've remain competitive but it's been a frustrating competitive effort.

I am not buying, what Coach T is selling. Turn up the heat Mr. Rooney.

I am like what the minority owners are thinking, and have been for YEARS.

Unless the Steelers get lucky, they will never win another super bowl with Tomlin. Same with that bozo in Green Bay. These two schleps have been winning with elite qbs and not winning enough.

    ****ty coaches with great Qbs.

SI had a great article last week (ironically). Steelers have been pouring draft picks into the defense and it just hasn't gotten better. In last 5 years Steelers have invested 8 of 10 first or second round picks in defense. I think they are way beyond 'transition' at this point. They just aren't good in spite of all the high draft picks.

We put up 42 on that terrific Jax defense and lost. That is a fireable offense and we aren't going to make any changes. Stupid is as stupid does.

But they are ONLY putting draft picks into the defense. I believe in building through the draft but you have to supplement with free agents. And we are not doing that. Only free agent on defense that is a starter is Mitchell and Haden and Haden came this year.

We have to apply money and talent to the defensive side of the ball. Our offense is light years ahead of our defense in that respect.

I think it's better but not good enough. Draft picks takes time to development. Hargraves, Burns, Davis are second year players. Watt is a rookie. Now look at the offense, One rookie and he's not really a starter.

The problem isn't that we aren't spending draft picks on defense. It's that we are missing badly on them. More misses and misfortune on the defensive picks in the last five years that at any time I can remember.

Jarvis and Bud both look like misses
    Shazier is bad luck
    Golson was another miss
Burns, Davis, and Hargraves all look like below average to average players

All of these were premium picks (1-3 round) and none of them provided impact plays at the end of this season. I think we need better defensive scouts (and coaches).

What I hear from Pack fans is that organization is not putting anything around Rodgers.

Tomlin will likely win another Super Bowl in his tenure... BUT he needs to maintain discipline on the overall team and bolster the defense. Unless he does those two things, you are probably right that he will not win another.

Looks like Haley is going to the Browins as OC .....he said with Tomlin now coaching defense even I could get a win or two against that....

If the ball is caught, Browns could have possibly the chance to win the game.
    That’s a scary thought.

Come, even if they won that game, the Steelers had their F team playing in that game.

It only took the pats 3 games to transition their defense, maybe we need to transition this D coaching staff to unemployment and get some real D coaches in here and keep tomlin from meddling with this defense....

The article is very accurate! Those are some atrocious defensive numbers! If we just had a average defensive with the present offense we have we would be talking about us for the next 12 days in the Super Bowl instead of ripping on the Patriots all the time!We might never get a qb as good as Ben!What a waste!Still have hope we can get that average defensive in the next few years as it usually goes in phases. We’re not going to have a real good defensive tomorrow! When we do Ben will be gone so I’ll take average next year with some tweaks here and there on the defensive side of the ball includind COACHES!!!

We can talk about stats all we want as we we’re in the top ten statistically I think!Stats don’t stop big plays!Stats don’t stop 3rd and seven!I could go on and on but I never feel confident we can stop anyone when we’re on defense. Were a little lucky this year also as we played a few backup qb’s and so so offensesNext year that’s not going to happen!!!

You might be right. Probably need to stop hiring former Steeler players.
