Sound like he believes Haley will be back...

“I thought Todd did a good job," Rooney said. "A lot of the things we were hoping for, we were getting. It should only get better.”

I wouldn't say the "good job" comment about Haley means he is happy with the offense.

Change takes time and in one year i still can't grade the report card with health issues among the players young money that hasn't gotten it yet (mentally) along with a stubborn QB Haley had a plate full. Take this season learn from it make the necessary changes/corrections and move forward.

Note: With the tools given Haley did ok he will be back.

And i'd add that he was much better at using Miller too.

i totally disagree with this. i think he did a terrible job of utilizing his talent.

i think he did a terrible job of using his wr's. he has a pretty good group of recievers and i dont think he used them right.

he has one of the best TE's in the game in Miller and he was still under used.

his use of the rb's was terrible.

he has one of the best qbs in the game and i dont think he had a good enough plan to use him to his strengths. we can say what we want about school yard football and Bens love of going deep, but Haleys almost seemed dead set not to use any of that.

the one pass i will give for Haley is the fact that he is dealing with a terrible oline which makes it hard to be consistant, but he still ddint do a very good job of making adjustments and using his talent the right way.

After reading the entire article, I'd say he's optimistic about Haley, but unhappy with the O's tendency to lose the ball.

It seems Rooney is unhappy with a #1 defense that rates near the bottom in turnovers produced.

You could say he misused his receivers, but in the 1st half of the season Haley looked like a genius, not so much with the running game, but the dink and dunk was working, the receivers held onto the ball and he utilized Heath very well. He had Ben on an MVP like season. The 2nd half was terrible, Ben was hurt, the running backs couldn't hang onto the ball, the receivers (besides Heath) couldn't catch a cold. Haley can draw up an offense, but lack of execution was what made this team lose down the stretch. All Wallace, Brown, and Sanders all had butterfingers, they all had too many drops, and fumbles, and bone headed mistakes. And Ben threw 2 interceptions at 2 crucial moments that really hurt us.

I am by no means a big Haley supporter but Im not a basher either. Im not quick to pass judgement because he can not control injuries, he can not make Wallace catch a perfectly thrown ball, and he can not stop sanders or brown from fumbling. Its simple execution and lack of fundamentals that hurt this offense this year.

are the Rooneys trying to save face by saying they are happy with the direction of the offense and with Haley?

they ran Arians out of town and Haleys offense is worse if you look at the numbers than Arians was.

they should be unhappy with the turnover issue. the offense turned it over way too much and the defense forced way too few turnovers.

i think the coaching is a mess on this team right now.

Tomlin doesnt seem to be the take charge get in your face kind of coach that is needed sometimes. the oline is terrible and not getting better, the wrs got worse this year, the running backs struggled, the defense has lost their ability to create turnovers and get sacks and the special teams are ridiculous.

all that is not on the coaching, but a lot of it is. please dont tell me there isnt talent on this team. it is up to the coaches to get the most out of their talent and they are not doing that.

So 8-8 is Tomlin's first non-winning season. I guess, but it's not a losing season. Do the record books count winning seasons, losing seasons, and tie seasons?

But Ben was BARELY the cause of the turnovers. What can Haley do about runners that can't hold the ball? I think that's why the Rooney's wouldn't hold the turnovers against Haley.
