Well I don't think you had to read the board. Just watch the games. We ranked 30th is pass defense, stats don't lie.
But, we had a terrific red zone defense, as they would buckle down in those times.
Were going to have to way to keep a good offense on the field. Need more 3 and outs.

Got to agree with Mr. Rooney. The secondary is the most obvious need. But I think the general direction this team is heading looks good.

I read this earlier today and maybe it's just me, but is anyone else a little put off that Art is commenting publicly about the Steelers needs? I know that he's done it in the past, but this is something that his dad and grandfather would have never done and is maybe just a little Jerry Jones-ish. It's kind of a break from the "Steelers Way" of doing things.

    IDK, maybe it's me?

imo pass defense needs to be addressed even though we had good red zone D because of 3 things. 1. field position 2. the longer our D is out there our O isn't. 3. Our D gets gassed by the 4th allowing teams to come back.

    Not concerned with the approach.

Last time he said something (that I remember) was when he said the running game needed to improve, and it has. So at least when Art speaks, the FO listens. I expect our pass defense will be much better next year because of it.

Art II speaks, then goes away unlike that bloated Jerry Jones who can't STFU. I think he is just reaffirming what we all know maybe to really get some eyebrows up in the front office. Worked for the run game and protecting Ben so it's high time that a solid secondary is present instead of patchwork.

Does Art mean we look at the secondary in F/A to sign cheap castoffs from other teams, or go after a corner who is pro bowl quality and spend the money it takes to sign him up, signing cheap B level players isnt really going to fix the problem, show me they can go after a top level corner or safety and i'll take them seriously, if not then the struggle continues IMO.....

Didn't he say we needed to improve the run game, followed by the Steelers drafting Bell? Hopefully we draft a potential HOF'er at CB or S, whichever early in the draft. Perhaps they also pick up a FA.

I woke up grumpy today, so forgive me.

But much like the offensive line, they finally admit our weakness or area of concern about 5 years too late.

    BUT...

If this statement leads to decisive action, cheers!

RED zone D vs normal pass D. Hey has anyone of the coaches noticed how hard it is to play 10 to 115yds off of the recievers the further they get into the red zone?Maybe playing off and not cheecking at theline of scrimage is a bigger factor than porsonnel

Personally, I would focus more on having a higher score at the end of the game than the opponent but that's just me.

Art II has also been heard to say it's time to win another Superbowl,
He has also stated that he thought players should be playing sooner
after being drafted high. He is not into red shirting, he wants to see his money
    working.

If you read the full article on Steelers.Com the thing that jumps out the most is this sentence from 1998 to 2014 the Steelers have drafted 24 DB's. Twenty four! That is just about half a 53 man roster. Of those 24 they had one good player in Ike and one home run guy in Troy and that's it. That speaks volumes about the scouting process. 2 for 24 isn't that great of record.

I'm glad Art II spoke up. He only speaks when I think he has had enough of disappointment like us fans. He doesn't beat his chest about like Jerry Jones. I think the guy is hungry for championships. I do too remember when Art II made the comment, I'm ready to win a Super Bowl. I think he was the force that got tired of BA having Ben getting killed, no running attack. Now he's tired of the obvious problems with the secondary. I think he's calling out the front office and the staff to make the improvements that have kept us from being a contender once again. I like Art II, he shows his passion in a subtle way. As a fan, glad to hear him every once in a great while hear, he wants what we want.

In an unrelated story, Art also said the sky is blue, the sun is hot, and water is wet. You gotta admire a man that has a knack for the obvious.

I'm glad he spoke the obvious. Seems like the obvious needs have gone unattended for a while with this secondary. Two years prior to Ike Taylor's retirement, this obvious need should have been addressed. I realize it has but, with poor choices.

It's a smokescreen to make the Browns trade up and down. We will most likely draft some linebackers or a punter. Next man up
