Good luck bringing in an OC that will "coach" Ben. If that happens, get ready for offensive death. What do you want Ben to do? Sit in the pocket? Every time they try that with an unorthodox QB it kills the offense and the QB. Want to run it more? - that worked 20 years ago but this is a passing league now. Here is a dose of reality to all that think Ben needs to change and needs to learn more about the game - Ain't Gonna Happen. And why should he anyway? He has been in the league for 8 years, has been to the AFC Championship 4 times, the Superbowl 3 times and won it twice. No other QB can say that in the last 8 years, and only a handful can say that in the history of the NFL. He is what he is. Whoever comes in at OC better understand that. Build the offense around him - better O-line, scrap the bubble screen, use the tight end more in the passing game, develop the ability to convert 3rd and 1 on the ground. But let him play the game he plays. I know that is frustrating to a lot of people, but you can't take a QB that will be coming into his 9th season in the league and start messing with the way he plays the game.

    Shanner82-i agree with you 100%

Aerosteel-i think what most people are wanting is what you are saying you want. We need to get away from run on 1st down and then 5 wide for the next two plays and play street ball. We need to use the Tight end more. We need to run on 3rd down more. We need to be less predictable with play calls and formations. We need to incorportate more play action passes, ect...

All of these things will help make Ben a better QB and help him become more effiecient. Combined those things with him becoming better at recognizing matchups presnap and becoming more patient and taking what the defense gives him more often.

No one is wanting Ben to become soley a pocket passer, but we are wanting him to become more efficient. His ability to run around and make plays is great, but that shouldn't be his first choice. That should only be when it is necessary. He is also getting older and he will not be as good at that as he was when he was younger.

Another thing... We keep talking about Ben's success and judging it by his wins. He has been very successful and won a lot of games, but we must remember we have had very good teams around him including the best defense in the league in that timefrme.

That is one stat. You are comparing a QB from the 1970's vs a current one. With the evolution of offenses its irrelevant.

Also, you want to throw to the TE more and you want to run on 3rd and short? Who do you think had a big influence on them not doing those things? Ben.

Lastly, how did Ben play in all 3 of the Super Bowls he was in?

    642 yds (average of 214 per game)- 4 TD's- 6 INT's- Not great!

Ben can improve and needs to!!!

Mort - what more can the man do? Wins a lot of games, won Superbowls, one of the best playoff records in history, one of the top QB ratings of all-time. What other stats are there?

He can become a more refined mature player. He can improve and thats all that people are asking for. The great ones do it. Right now Ben is a good one, how he deals with this change and what he accomplishes from here on out will define his career and we will see if he becomes a great one or not. The Steelers need him to do this.

You keep referring to the wins, which is a team effort. Ben didn't win those games on his own. The great ones (Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers) carried their teams. Ben has the ability to be that good, but he needs to improve.
