Are we expecting too much of Najee Harris?

Maybe, but who knows. The OP is always doom and gloom.

I expect Harris to be worthy of being our 1st pick. Whatever that is. If we could go back in time and put Harris into our line up the last 5 or so games last year I am not sure he is that good to have made that much of a difference with how the others he depends on were playing. Now, with so much turnover all around him, I look at this as an opportunity to improve everything on offense which I won't know until Buffalo. I would hope that he can do what Hack predicted above under ideal conditions.

    Really?

I'm a piker at gloom and doom when it comes to some of the jabroni's on here. I consider myself more of a realist, TBH.

No I get mad, but I get mad when there’s something to get mad about. Some of these guys get all worked up over “what if’s”

Have you ever considered that maybe people do it just because they know it irritates you? :hmm:

The rookie TE won’t be a starter over Ebron.

Maybe not game 1 but don't be so sure about the home stretch, Najee might not need Ebron.

But if Ebron continues to drop passes, they have a young TE to replace him.

I just noticed something, if you Google Harris' 40 time it comes up with 4.45. To my knowledge he did all the drills but pulled a Seinfeld on the 40.

I think it's because he knew his 40 time could only hurt his prospects of being a 1st rd pick. Just watching him I would guess he's a 4.62-4.65 guy.

But, i'm curious as to where this number came from? Again, there was no combine, and he didn't run at either of Bama's pro days. I can't find any info on it.

It feels like a "sources say" or "according to sources close to the team" type of report. Anybody got anything?

Because that’s not the TOMLIN way. He will play his vet guaranteed. Now as the season progresses that could change based on how bad or good Ebron might be playing. I except the rookie to only be in two TE looks and a series here or there first half of the season.

It doesn't matter much, everybody knows he's not a explosive RB like Etienne, if he can break the occasional 20 yard run I'm fine with it.

I don't use Chinese google, but found his 40 time coming out of HS was 4.66 All other times are estimates or listed as unofficial. Then some sites just copy the 4.45 time (which was estimated in college) to be able to put something down it seems.

McFarland can break a couple I hope and you have Ray Ray, Claypool and DJ18 on sweeps to hopefully land some big gainers every once in awhile. Either way I'll take the ball control, TOP drives all day.

Derrick Henry had 1500yds in '19 with 9 carries over 20yds and 3 over 40. He had 2K last year with 16 carries over 20 and 4 over 40yds. If Harris can get anywhere close to 10 runs of 20 or more, I think he and the o-line will be sitting pretty in that explosive play aspect.

Derrick Henry is a career 5yd rush average though. Too many unknowns to predict an avg for Harris, but if at the end of the season he's averaging close to 4.5, I'll be thrilled.

Steelers last year averaged 3.6 An average of 4.5 would put the team in the top 1/3 of the league when using 2020 numbers. That will be a nice target/team goal for the end of the season.

It's like the same with AB.
I know he ran a 4.56 at the combine, but if you don't dig Deeper 4.47 shows up if you look it up.

Conner averaged 4.3, Mac 3.4, Snell 3.3. We added Ballage, who has a career average of 3.1.

God help us if Najee goes down. It's unconscionable that they don't have a better backup plan and are putting all their eggs in one basket again.

And his blocking is poor as it has been, Rookie will be an upgrade over this person I never wanted.
