apathy set in for me 4-5 years ago.

this organization just re-arranges the deck chairs on the Titanic. But I am am encouraged by the hiring of Smith, the need to compete the job with QB with upside or someone PROVEN

If they do not GO BIG with a QB move, expect more of the same malaise, a run at the playoffs, but no real threat to advance far. Need a QUALITY QB and he is not on the roster today.

I am 52 as well and darn near the same in my progression of zealousness of sports. I used to catch my favorite college team football and basketball games whenever they were on TV. Now, I don't watch more than a few quarters of football all college season and mybe catch a handful of basketball games (with some fast-forwarding through the recording). College has become boring for anyone NOT a fan of the top handful of teams (football) due to NIL and just buying the best talent. The best players are going to schools that can help them get $50-100k plus in NIL money. They're not going to my college, and I am not blaming them, but it means you have to catch lightning-in-a-bottle (like the first year coaching of the next, young, unproven Nick Saban..before a big school hires him for $7mil/yr).

My dad used to jump out of his chair and scream at the TV, as if the players or ref or coach could hear him. It was funny, but I found it annoying over time. I couldn't hear the announcer or analyst takes. It molded me into being a quiet watcher of games. I rarely say a word all game. I do say a few words with Steelers, but its never good. It's more of "that figures" or "about what I expected" or "unbelievable" (the bad kind). I am definitely apathetic. I have been TOMLINIZED! Just what he wants, no one to care about Steelers football so he can keep his job for another 20 years accomplishing nothing. Tomlin has won judging by the idjits on here that post crap like "Bye Felicia!". They're fine with stinking up the place and are only upset at other that question the Steelers stink. THAT is blind loyalty, but loyalty isn't always a good thing and it's become BAD in Steeler-land. THAT is what Tomlin and his choice of coaches/coordinators has wrought.

The good news is, one day Tomlin will be gone and we'll have a chance again. At least we have an OC with past success. It's not a forward-thinking hire, but it is lower risk hire, admittedly.

None of us on here are bandwagon fans. Disliking a coach, or the lack of winning and being mad at the apathy of ownership and fellow "loyal" fans is still being a fan. I WANT the Steelers to be great and the apathy is on the side of those that are fine with this mediocrity. I laugh at the responses of the truly apathetic (and immature), telling us with an actual pulse to leave the board. HAH. How boring would this board be without us true fans that want more than the crap we've been forced to endure.

Tell Me what that has to do with winning a SB, or playing in a SB??? You don't have to have won a playoff game the year before You go to a SB, or an AFC/NFC championship. This is not a step ladder....you win a playoff game this year, and two next year, and 3 the next year, and SB the next year. That's not how it works.

So, to be a "true" fan you have to beyotch and complain about coaching and ownership multiple times a day through multiple threads, even ones that have nothing to do with coaching or ownership? Knowing that you have no control over any of the things you're whining about? Hmmmm....

I did turn off a game. The level of play was terrible.
I didn’t come here and spout the same redundant garbage that some miserable fans do constantly.

I never said that, but you did. Your opinion...have at it. I want folks questioning crappy play, horrible coaching and questionable ownership. Yes, we Steelers fans are having to suffer through ALL of that right now. To pretend otherwise is being willfully ignorant.

In spite of what all you "true fans" believe, there's no one in the football watching universe who doesn't see that this team has problems and has had for quite some time. I disagree that ownership is a problem in Pittsburgh. Ownership is a problem in Dallas, Vegas, LAC...... The vast majority of us realize that we can't do anything about the games and our lives are not defined by the W/L record of a football team. Reality is not ignorance.

Our offensive performance has been so anemic the last two years (except the last few games of this past season) that I had become somewhat apathetic about watching the team play. It was painful, akin to watching paint dry. I can assure you that I have never been and will never be a bandwagon fan.

So then what’s the problem? I mean this is a message board and people are pissed at how this team is performing. Give your two cents on what is wrong and how to fix it even if you can’t change it (none of us can)

    Giving two cents is perfect

Giving $2,348.56 two cents at a time with the same two pennies has a different name
