Was it unusually warm in Pittsburgh that year? It should be Jan. right and it looks pretty mild or at least the fans look dressed for more fall than middle of winter.

Man TB got laid OUT on that goal line play. Also what in the crap was he thinking on that pick over the middle? I can only imagine the board back then with a young Mac and Coastal screaming their brains out! LOL!

Without even watching it, what I remember was Miami had a strong ground game and got just enough out of it to have the advantage. This was also the season I first was interested in watching pro football and became a Steelers fan. It was a frustrating end, but also a beginning of a wonderful ride.

And a few board members would have been claiming Chuck Noll sucked and should be fired....

Do you remember how expensive tickets were for big games like that back in the day? I've heard that used to you could just walk up to the ticket window on the day of a game and get them for really cheap compared to now. Even the first Super Bowl had cheap tickets and it was really only a few years before this. Now AFC Championship tickets are insane but were they relatively insane then?

Odd facts about the game. It was warm (upper 60s) as one person in this thread wondered. Similar to the AFCCG after the '94 season with the Chargers. The undefeated Dolphins played on the road, because teams weren't seeded then; playoff sites rotated.

The fake punt was devastating, but Bradshaw threw two interceptions in the 4th quarter.

That was the season that cemented my love of the Steelers! My brother, the Raider fan, laughed at me when Miami won.

Oft-forgotten fact about this game: Roberto Clemente died later that night.

What a crappy INT by Bradshaw! And did you see that bad angle that Blount took on that TD?

They both should have been CUT immediately after that game!!!

Yeah when I saw Blount just straight up blow it on that pass to the flat I was like "Daaaaang! That was Mel Blount!" Was it Percy Howard that also sorta made him look foolish in a Cowgirls Super Bowl once too? Blount's highlights still vastly outnumber his lowlights though. Although so do Jackie Smith's but of course he's remembered for a single drop more than anything else. Which I'm totally fine with btw. LOL!
