I was a little bit disappointed that we didn't get him when I heard how little he signed for. Well, once again our front office proves that it knows more than ANY of us fans.

Granted, this newest run in with the law appears to be pretty minor. It's not a drug or domestic violence arrest. However, the fact that it happened on top of everything else indicates that he is just flat out dumb and will probably never "get it." Also, just look at his mug shot. The look on his face is defiant and arrogant, like he somehow thinks that he's above the law because he's Rolando F'ing McClain.

The dude probably should stay away from Alabama. He obviously was not able to cut ties with people he should have. While I would still take the guy on a deal similar to what he has in place with the Ravens, the guy is obviously a knucklehead who has not learned his lesson. Still, to get a guy with his abilities, on a 1 year deal with nothing guaranteed, why not give it a go? Despite what I have read, I don't expect the Ravens to cut him. This is minor and can be overlooked.

I wanted nothing to do with this guy he doesn't get it. People kept saying he just needs to get out of Oakland it's a bad situation he still can't stay out of trouble.

If the rats wouldn't cut ties with a murderer that got off on a technicality I'm sure they're not gonna cut ties with this guy. They are some of the most classless, bottom feeding, bums in all sports. Man I hate the Ravens.

You know, the problem this incident shows is something that will and maybe has shown up on the field already. "Leave the Park". That is all he had to do, but he didn't want to listen to the authority. Well, guess what the same thing happens on a football field. The coaches say do XYZ, if he doesn't like it and doesn't do it, it could be a problem. Maybe it is curfew. Maybe it is running a particular play or being late for meetings. One way or another...the guy is a problem.

He didn't get off on a technicality. THe DA dropped the charges against him in exchange for his testimony.

    /edit

Mcclain really needs to stop hanging out with his homies in Alabama or he will quickly find himself like so many other washed up athletes.

Which means he did it? Right? That's how I take it. Isn't a plea bargain an admission of guilt in exchange for no punishment?

So you're just saying that there could still be some "reasonable doubt" there and he might take the plea bargain just to keep from even risking being found guilty in it?

He pled guilty to obstruction of justice as part of that he had to testify against his companions. As a resident of Atlanta during the time of the murders there is no doubt in my mind that his companions stabbed those two men. They bought the knives and so on and so on. As much as I dislike Ray Lewis after being bombarded with trial details 24/7 it seems apparent his involvement was guilt by association. Once you've been charged you basically have 3 ways out trial, plea, or hope the DA drops charges. THere's no way in hell a DA is going to just drop murder charges on a high profile case. So they work out a deal and get what should be beneficial to their case. Then it's really kind of up to the defendant. He can gamble aka hope and pray he wins at trial or take a plea to a lesser charge(in this case obstruction) and walk away with a slap on the wrist. After having to deal with Paul Brown there's no doubt in my mind Lewis would have won at trial. However, it would have cost him millions of dollars and possibly ended his career. A case can also be made that Lewis was probably overcharged and the DA had to get something to save face.

If we had more veteran leadership and stability in the LB corps then I would say take a flyer on a roster spot for him but we don't need any locker room problems right now and I don't see anyone on the D side that could keep him in line.

I guess all of the mclain apologists think it was Alabama'a fault for what has happened. After all it was oaklands fault for his failures in the NFL.

As one person said" when the raiders give up on you, you must have issues..... close enough.

I'm a steeler fan not because we've won so many rings but because of the way the Org is run. Signing McLain would have meant rings mean more than doing things the right way. Class and doing things right should have a place in our society but far too often wins and money take precedent.

I never wanted McLain, and after this I stand by that, classless thugs can play somewhere else. There's way too many talented decent players out there that deserve an opportunity.
