This won't stay up for long. but here's a (very sped up) vid of maybe my best start to a Dom match ever.

We got the downhill spawn to start, which usually means a loss unless you can get around and cap C. So I sprinted straight for B to get that capped first. Vid starts as I reach B.

Yeah, I had been on for a while and was signing back in. I had just got done with a couple 1 and 2 bar lobbies, so I thought I'd try resetting my connection etc. I saw that you were in a party, so I assumed it was a big gathering of CODboards guys. I played a couple more rounds of suck, then switched to RDR for a while.

Nice video...very cool.

 

That was fun last night, though I kind of go on auto-pilot when 2:00 approaches. I learned a couple really important things though: a) the usas is a beast. b) the mk-14 isn't as beastly as I thought. I could have sworn people were 'one shot-one killing' with that. That's about the only reason I started trying to use it.

I need to do that again soon, and just go through a few dom matches if you're up to it. I could stand to benefit from your strategy wisdom, that way, in the off chance I actually do get on a team that knows what they're doing...I will too. Assuming we could find a lobby that wasn't full of kill-farming, head-glitching, marshmallow roasters.

 

That's why being on a team of 4 or more usually helps. Being grouped with randoms usually means misery, especially if the other team is not random... especially on domination where it's very easy to spawn trap. Of course, the C4B guys don't spawn trap. They intentionally take all 3 flags knowing they'll flip the spawns. That way they're always attacking. It's more fun, and the scoreboard is more lopsided even if you don't get the huge kill totals. (It's a team game after all, not a "look at my personal stats" game)

The Mk14 IS a beast in the right hands with a quick finger. I'm neither. The Model 1887 is even more beast as a shotgun, but it's a pain to level up as it has ZERO attachments.

I'm still laughing over how many corner huggers got me last night, only to have me go back to their camping spot and destroy them over and over. You'd think they'd learn not to stay in the same place.

 

Yeah, lol. You'd think they'd try to at least change it up a bit and run to another campfire. I know this isn't exactly the best team player activity, but I'll run the long way around a map just to squish the rat camper who took me out. Not always, but sometimes.

I find I have the hardest time smoking campers out of C in Dome. I guess that's probably part of the spawn trap on that map that gets many people raging though.

 

So my ISP upgraded yesterday. Consistently getting 22 down and 4 up now. Ping is better too with better quality servers / lines. Getting an A+ rating almost everywhere on the East coast, and A rating all the way to the mid-west. West coast? Not so much, but that's to be expected. Can't really exceed the speed of light after all.

So I hop on MW3 to see how it plays now. 2 hours of play time, not once was I under max bars. I'd put a smilie here, but...

First 3 games, WOW!!!! All my bullets were connecting! People were dying when they should. SCAR and ACR were killing in 3, no more than 4 bullets. PP90, no more than 5-6. So this is what the game is supposed to be like! This is awesome!

But...

I was playing in a lobby where everyone was 4 barred. Then lobbies changed...

And hello lag comp worse than usual.

I have a new theory why lag comp is so messed up now. Perhaps they're using the same code from a generation ago. It worked then, should work now, right? The fly in the ointment is there is a much wider disparity now in connection speeds, and the algorithms used cannot account for that spread. So you can get big problems if there's too many extremes within a lobby. Just a thought.

 

Congrats on the upgraded service. I'd love to have 4 up. I've considered getting upgraded, but I think it's good enough for our purposes. The price jump for me is pretty big, and I've feared that it wouldn't actually help online play much.

Great video. Though, I found myself getting pissed as I watched it. That is exactly what happens to me pretty frequently. Here's what I don't quite understand- why don't they just sort lobbies based on connection similarities, versus connection averages? Why even try to adjust user's connections on either end of the spectrum? I wish I had DSL just to see the difference...I suspect I'd be flying around in Godmode.

I got the Striker from zero to gold in 2 days. Making my 6th.

Gawd, has it been that long already? I've been busy with work or just too tired lately. I have been feeling the itch though the last few days.
The Striker is OP but yeah, it is fun as hell. How are things w/MW3 lately? Any changes or noticeable updates?

 

LMGs got a buff to their minimum damage. They're killing machines now at every distance. Of course, you're slow as molasses with them (and not everyone knows about the buff yet). Akimbo machine pistols were nerfed again, but it doesn't seem very obvious. They also spread faster now, so without steady aim, their useful range is smaller than shotguns. The biggest nerf to akimbo machine pistols is they dropped the clip size (I think) and total ammo count. Using them as primaries now, you'd better be running scavenger. Some still do just that, of course.

They changed the way matchmaking works. Now it looks for matches in a small radius first, and the circle widens with each sweep to find you the closest match possible. This works decently in prime time... not so much in off hours.

I don't know if this happened after the last time you played or not, but they added "Infected" to a public game type. So now you can play it and earn xp doing it. If you don't know, the way it works is this: One guy starts as infected. Everyone at the start is given the same load out. When the infected guy kills the first person, all infected now only have a knife, throwing knife, and tac insertion. They also run faster. If you are killed by an infected, you become one of the infected. The object is to stay "alive" as long as possible, or, if infected, to infect as many people as possible. The match ends when either everyone is infected, or time runs out. 98-99% of the matches end with everyone infected. LOL The running horde of zombies, er, infected is hard to hold at bay for very long.

Soon, they're supposed to add another game type called "gun game." It looks pretty cool. You start with a pistol. Every kill ranks you up a gun. You cycle through machine pistols, then SMGs, then ARs, LMGs, shotties, etc. The first person to cycle through all weapons and get a kill with the last weapon wins.

 

Oh snap. I never use LMGs, so that would figure.

I gotta say...the change to matchmaking sounds promising. I mean, at least they're trying something and applying some logic. Before, it was 'we made a change that will further fix the problem that we won't acknowledge exists, and oh, you won't be able to see any tangible evidence of a fix'. Mmhmm.

I remember reading that infected was available, but I didn't really know what it was. Sounds like fun.

It's double xp weekend for MW3. Good time to level up.

One further tip if you get on this weekend at all:

Make every class a hardline class with the specialist package. Using specialist with hardline is great for xp as it is, it's INSANE if they double your xp. Just a tip from your uncle Ray.

 

TTF may tell you differently, but I'm horrible at MW3 too. It doesn't stop me from playing.

Don't let Ray fool ya, he's more of a beast than he lets on. I've never played BF or GOW. Mostly I play COD or Medal of Honor. I'm on a dry spell though, and haven't played in quite a while (sorry Ray).

Do you ever play MW3 anymore Ray?

 

A couple weeks ago I went on a 5 day MW3 binge in fact. The community got even worse though. If you log on and they vote for Terminal (old MW2 map now playable for MW3), just leave the lobby. No one moves. No one. I've seen TDMs end with scores of 2600-2200. It's pathetic. Funny, that was one of my favorite maps in MW2. Of course, we didn't have so many stat whores too afraid of their own shadows to move even an inch back then.

 

That's hilarious. I assumed it'd be pretty bad as that's the way it usually goes after a while. I was thinking about renewing my gold membership and getting on, but the other franchises get pretty unplayable before too long and I was kind of thinking it would be the case for MW3 as well. I know you weren't a Black Ops fan, but I wonder how Pt 2 is going to be.

 

I don't see myself playing Black Ops 2 for the same reasons I didn't play the first one or WaW: CoD fatigue partly, and I have never liked Treyarch's games. The first BO I dabbled in, and it was a hot mess. Just felt really shoddy compared to the (at the time) 2 MWs. Of course, MW3 was a step backward as well in a few ways. If BO happens to take the world by storm with raving reviews, I might try it. But I'm not holding my breath.

 

Yeah, I doubt it will be highly acclaimed. I might bite depending on how well it's received, as I didn't hate the first one.
