Damn, Ray...you're a beast. I'm starting to finally get into the online play, but I haven't hardly had any time for it. :banghead: MW2 I played all the time it seemed...a new one comes out and I barely play it.

 

Hehehe.. I took the night off last night so I didn't gain any ground on said lap just yet.

I'm reading reports that they may have fixed the lag compensation yesterday. I really hope that's true.

I hope my running commentary didn't annoy you too much. I have a tendency to be vocal - aggressively vocal - when the adrenaline is pumping. Hopefully I kept it mostly in check (no screaming at least ).

 

You too, Ray. I don't know about the better showing, there were a couple awful matches in there.
As far as the commentary goes, I talk as much or more than you do so no worries there. I don't know if my headset is bad or it was just the network last night, but I'm pretty sure you couldn't hear me half the time. I'll have to search around for my other one and see if it makes a difference next time.

Best investment I ever made. It keeps my wife happy as she doesn't have to hear a war zone. It allows me to separately control game and voice volume. They're much sturdier than those flimsy XBox headsets.

And you can hear the enemy coming for a long way away. With decent directional hearing too. Even the El Cheapo models are upgrades.

 

BTW, TTF, consider yourself lapped.

 

Ahh, I hadn't even considered that. I don't think the Mrs. will be too keen on that right now...I should asked Santa for a set. I'll look into a better set though, thanks for the recommendation.

I had the same idea, Ray. Logged on to blow off some steam, played a few maps, got pissed at the game and shut it off. It would have been great therapy if there weren't so many really lame campers, coupled with akimbo speedsters popping out of nowhere.

 

We need that "slink away" smilie.

I'm one of those akimbo speedsters. Not all the time, but if I know it's going to be close quarters, or I might be outnumbered, those babies come out. Yes, it's incredibly cheap. But if everyone else is using it, you have to also.

Lame campers OTOH, can GDIAF. Overall, I had a some decent matches. Even got top score on Domination a couple times.

 

Oh, for sure. I'm just jealous because I can't beat em, and can't join em. Sweet!

 

Why can't you join them? Unlocking Akimbo is easy.

1) Make the FMJ9 your secondary weapon
2) Use steady aim if you have it
3) Kill with it exclusively (singularly, almost as good as an SMG anyway), including using attachments available for challenges
4) ???
5) Profit

I hardly play the game, and when I do I hardly use the machine pistols. Now that the holidays and football are over, I'm sure I'll find more time. Have you lapped me twice yet?

 

No. Until last night, I hadn't played in 10 days or so. And I don't plan to prestige again.

 

Gotcha. I had a little free time earlier, so I was able to get a few rounds in. Got a little bit closer...not closer to you, but closer to akimbo. At this rate, MW4 will be out before I'm closer to you.

I made the mistake a little while back of finally opening Dragon Age 2. With the DA games, I usually find myself saying 'eh, I'll just play for an hour or so' and before I know it I'm saying 'damn, it's that late already??'

 

Hehehe... that's how I am with Red Dead Redemption.

 

Speaking of Red Dead Redemption, I'm going to HIGHLY recommend this game to you. It has my vote for best game of this generation of consoles. Maybe my favorite game ever.

And the best part is? It's probably dirt cheap now (even more so if you pick it up used at Gamestop). And it's been out long enough that almost all of the DLC is free too.

There's a song played at a certain moment in the game. The first time you experience it (the moment and song combined), it's one of those moments that can raise the hairs on the back of your neck (in a good way).

It has elements like RPGs (you're a DA fan). Obviously elements of games like GTA (made by Rockstar after all). But one of the coolest settings in any video game, tons of freedom to play however you like, and an awesome story. I don't want an RDR movie. They'll only screw it up. The time moves independent of what you're doing. Nothing is "set." Weather too.

Someone made a pretty good music vid using game footage (it's all game footage, no CG) with the song. It gives a pretty good taste of the game.

There's an on-line portion to this game too, and amazingly, even though I've been playing it almost a year(!), I've never gone on-line with it.

Crap...I'm already hooked.
I remember when this game came out and I was kind of indifferent towards it. Obviously it was a serious lack of judgement on my part. It looks pretty sick, and right up my alley (I love westerns). What's the difference between the regular game, and the Game of The Year edition?

 

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the GOTY edition also comes with some DLC content. (Extra horse, some outfits you can unlock that give you a bonus, gold guns, on-line stuff)

It may or may not also include Undead Nightmare. Undead Nightmare is a whole different game using the whole map, all the characters, etc. It's fun for a diversion, but not something you would play over and over. And if you play it at night with headphones on... it becomes not so much fun, if you catch my drift. (It's pretty creepy, and if cougars and bears give you PTSD in RDR, they'll make you sweat bullets when they're undead. Swarms of a hundred zombies who ONLY die by headshot will make you run rather than fight. But it's kind of cool visiting all of the characters in a different... story).

But RDR I've probably played from beginning to end 5 times. It's more or less open world so I've never quite played it the same way twice. And sometimes, I'll play for hours and never do a mission. I'll just hunt, explore, or play some poker and blackjack.

I figured the explanation would be much better coming from you. I'll probably just get the original version for now, since it looks like there's no shortage of gameplay.

 

I know I can be a smartass, but I wouldn't do that.

Regular version should be fine since you can DL most of the DLC stuff for free (and it's all on-line stuff anyway). Unless you have a thing for zombie games, Undead Nightmare isn't a "must have."

 

Meh, I could take or leave them. The COD black ops zombie content was kinda fun, but not something I played more than a couple times after the novelty wore off.

Oh, FMJ9 Akimbo is fun. Got it last night after a few rounds.
