Tomlin said there will be no coaching changes or changes in schematics. He actually said they need to keep doing what they’re doing, just better. Now I don’t expect him to divulge exactly what they plan to do, but I’m not going to lie…. Those comments are irritating.

Listening to Tomlin's PC today the guy didn't sound his normal positive/confident self. I think this season is already starting to wear on him. His solution to solving the defensive problems weren't exactly earthshaking. Said he shared Heyward's opinion after the game but wants to change the mindset of the defense going forward.

I saw that the Love had something like 350 passing yards and that 250 of it came after the catch.

So yeah, tackling would be a good start.

What, exactly, is a "Tomlin boy"? Someone who doesn't ***** incessantly about him? Someone who realizes that he's not going anywhere anytime soon so hope for the best for the TEAM? Since I'm older than Mike Tomlin, chances of him being my father are nil.

Tomlin is almost exactly 8 months older than me. He was born on the 15th... me on the 17th.

To me a Tomlin boy is someone who takes a personal shot at a poster who posts something bad about Tomlin. Instead of debating Tomlin/Steelers, it turns into a personal attack on a poster.

    See if the shoe fits.

There is no defense of the indefensible. That's why strummerfan and steelersrule6 lash out with personal attacks at Tomlin critics.

Well that's the only hope we have. We need their center to do a Pouncey and hike it 20 yards into the endzone. We need a blocked punt for a TD. We need a kickoff and punt return for a TD. We need to scoop up a Colts fumble and run it in for a TD. If we get all of that then we have a shot at winning.

I want what’s best for the TEAM as well. That’s what gets me so mad about this Owner and HC. This is a message board obviously none of us can change anything.

It would make an interesting stat to see how many times a catch becomes a turnover/incomplete against how many extra yards those receivers get because we are trying to get a turn over. So many times, they swarm in and everyone is after the ball with nobody trying to put the receiver on the ground. Seems to turn into an extra 7 to 15 yards all too often, especially with the big physical receivers.

It really does feel that way. They are playing for the unusual thing to happen that allows the Steelers to win rather than having a good plan. So you play to win the lottery rather than getting a job and living your life......welcome to food stamps.

That was Matt Canada's typical response as well. Wonder where he learned it from. The Try harder method of improvement is not a very good game plan.
    • Current status:
Canada is currently a free agent and is actively seeking a head coaching position.

So, basically we need 5 years of top defensive moments to all occur in the same game for us.........lol

I think the best way you beat the Colts is the same way you beat any good team. Win the turnover battle and control the time of possession. If it were me coaching I would play alot of zone coverage with all my defenders eyes in the backfield. Make Jones squeeze the ball into windows.

A reminder of Tomlin's mentality on firing coaches:

Problem with this thinking is that it is not just a change for change sake. A change is needed in order to address how this defense is not performing in games.
