If they're available it means they probably aren't that good.

I'm not sure Geathers is any good but I did read that he got after the OL pretty good today in practice and some guys to exception to it. Foster was crying that they just played 90 snaps on Sunday and Geathers shouldn't be going so hard. Sounds like what is wrong with this team...you play how you practice. Maybe that's why we are inconsistent and take the field most times looking like we DON'T practice at all. SMH.

If in fact that's the case, that is sad.

Devon McCourty is gonna be available at the end of the year. I know he's not a DE but he is a DB and we need those too. He looked like about the best one I seen on a list the other day of "notable" Free Agents. Suh is gonna be available this offseason too but I wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. We couldn't afford him anyway though.

According to some reports this is true. And you wonder why we are playing for our football lives.
It all starts at the top.As Cowher and Hines said we are indeed SOFT.
C'mon Rooney's when is enough enough. Pull the trigger on this guy.

the nfl as a whole is soft. the days of playing physical on defense are over. its a passing league now on offense. the 3 yards and a cloud of dust days are gone too. players don't like practice and don't have to do it much. no contact in practice. I think the coaches hands are tied on just how physical you can be.

seattle is the only team that comes to mind and they have even called more penalties on them this year. they got away with mugging people last year.

Justin Houston is still without an extension, and may be free come March 1. However, I would expect him to be pretty pricey with 3 straight double digit sack seasons (14 so far this season).

I think he should've started from week 1. Get his jitters out of the way early and let him learn the NFL ropes throughout the season, instead of now, right in the middle of the playoff hunt. At least he's fresh. What works or doesn't work against our guys in practice may or may not hold true versus the other guys in this league. Only way to improve is to get snaps and he can't do that by watching film and sitting on the bench Sunday's.

Agreed. Starting Cam Thomas over him early in the season was a big head scratcher to me. It's not like Cam T. was performing.

Point taken. I agree the CBA has changed how teams can practice however individuals can work out at a pace on their own. AB is a fine example of a hard working player that does alot of prep and hard work before each game.. Now if only we were able to do this on the practice field.
