I know that Darren Sproles signed a 2 year deal with Philly but I'm not sure if it's gonna be up or not. If it was I would kill to see him in black and gold. Our Special Teams would instantly be better AND AB wouldn't have to return punts anymore. Also with Haley's screen game we'd have a guy that could take it to the house on every play. Sproles is admittedly one of my all time favorite players though. That dude comes to play.

He has been a bust so far after being a top 10 pick.

He's too old, not interested. They need to spend all their free agency money on defense.

I seem to remember you saying this last off season as well. Deangelo has kind of eclipsed the need for him now, no?

Yeah I mean DeAngelo is awesome but seems we could use Sproles in the return game. He has had some great runs this year. He also could be used in the passing game. I love DeAngelo too though for sure.

Bust? Not really. Has he lived up to the hype? Certainly not. He's 25, if we can afford him, he's got the talent.

We have many holes. Ben can lead this team, but "obviously" can't carry it. Need a safety, corner, O line/D line depth. If a splash OLB is available then why not. Mario Williams for cheap I hope. This team doesn't need much to contend, but Ben has to start taking care of the ball. Kick field goals, win field position and turnover battle. Win games. Who gives a **** about stats. Hate this fantasy crap lol

Prince Amukamara -good size and speed combo and can match up with a lot of WR'S, a must have if I was the Coach..Morris Claiborne a nice #2 CB never lived up to #1 CB status , but could be a solid #2 and match up with most Teams #2 WR'S.. Eric Berry at FS he has good speed and good vision and would be perfect behind Prince and Morris..

I would also take the best CB available in the first round and the best cover SS in the 2nd. round as well as sign Gay back. Of course all our other scrubs at DB would be gone ...

I agree that we don't need too much to contend. We have talent issues at some positions, and focus issues at others.

O-line depth I think we'll be ok at. D-line, we could do with getting a replacement for Can't Thomas.

I'd love to see a playmaking DB come in, but the main thing I'd be looking for is a guy who can communicate on the field and learn coverages quickly. Just think about how many games we might have won this year had there not been some ridiculous miscommunication/blow coverages in the secondary.

These free agent moves would be a dream come true, but honestly I'd be happy if we acquired even one of those guys.

Man Eric Berry is gonna be incredibly well paid. I'd like to have him too but I'm just saying there'd be no way we could ever afford that guy.

Does anyone have any faith that this coaching staff would have any clue who to go after and that they would know who to play once they got here? Their track record on player moves is horrible.

I haven't studied the free agent list much yet, but a few pop into mind:

    1. Trumaine Johnson, CB, Rams - Young, long, talented corner. This kid is still getting better, and I'm guessing he'll get some cash - and maybe a tag.
    2. Sean Smith, CB, Chiefs - Solid, long corner with ball skills. I don't think he'll break the bank.
    3. Janoris Jenkins, CB, Rams - Only 5'10", but plays bigger. Has great ball skills.
    4. George Iloka, SS, Cinci - Huge, physical strong safety. He's a pretty good player, and is still young and improving.

There is not doubt we have holes to fix and I think we will fix some of them through free agency, but not splash guys probably more guys like Moats. I would love to bring in one CB who could shut down the other teams #1 receiver for the most part, but I don't know if we can afford that. Here are the holes as I see them on defense only.

    1. We need to add some quality DEs to this roster. Tuitt and Heyward aren't able to stay fresh as they play too many snaps.
    2. We need an OLB who can actually get to the QB.
    3. We need a new starter at S.
    4. We need a cover corner who can actually take away someone like Ike did in his underappreciated by the NFL prime. I would be okay with Gay, Golson, Cockrell, Grant, and this new corner if he can be a starter.

On another note, I expect Lake to be replaced this offseason. I don't know why but I don't think he is getting players to perform and is determined he is still correct about Blake.

I disagree he's a bust, he has been benched in his career and done nothing in Dallas.

when does dee milliner's rookie contract expire...... he's buried on the jets' depth chart and i'm sure he would like a chance to compete for a starting spot
his size and speed are perfect. and he's still young.. good clay to mold

He started this year, and looked solid. Again, he's never going to live up to his draft status, but a bust is a guy who is out of the NFL, can't play in this league. Morris Claiborne is an upgrade over Antwon Blake and Cortez Allen and Ross Cockrell. That's what we should be looking for. We know we aren't going to be able to sign the premier free agents. We need capable, young starters... That other teams walk away from because they can't afford them, or they don't live up to expectations.

A few interesting names have been mentioned. I really would like an Iloka signing... Idk what type of money he would get tho. Not interested in Weddle. Nor am I interested in Claiborne at all. Gotta get some DL depth, but I haven't really looked into that position much yet.

Realistically if we are going to sign a starter from FA, then SS makes the most sense. If we are truly going to play more cover 2, then we need someone who is capable of playing a deep half and I just don't see that guy in the draft. Cravens no, Cash no, Vonn Bell and Kearse would be decent but more projects in that area. Those are the only two I'd be really comfortable taking in the top couple rounds... Btw Im still pissed we passed on Landon Collins in favor of Dupree last year. Collins is going to be a really solid pro, and I didn't think Dupree was impressive at all this year.

I'd rather draft a CB than go for a FA. Roll with Gay, Cockrell and Golson as starters and bring in a vet slot guy to be a safety net for Golson. Blake and Grant can fight for the last CB spot if we carry 6. I have no interest in bringing Boykin back. It's obvious that we don't view him as an outside corner and we just spent a second round pick on a slot guy.

I tend to agree. Our FA signings at CB tend to be like our drafting of them - constantly look for diamonds in the rough. Might as well draft, than sign someone for more money who is still all "potential" rather than proven talent. Part of the problem is with the CB position in general in free agency, because the proven talents tend to command over-inflated prices.

While I'd like to see some immediate fixes through FA, I don't see any that are out there at the moment at Safety or CB.
