Any free agents you guys want?

Yeah I read that earlier. That's total BS. I wonder how they'll treat Rivers when his time has come. They honored Rivers, Gates, and some other veterans during their last home game, but not Weddle. Curious situtation there.

 

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a list of pending free agents?

 

True, but as we know, $ changes everything. He's getting PT now and if we offer him what he feel he'd get on the open market I think he'd stay.

 

I found that one the other day. It's a good list that you can sort by position and team. Includes current salary. Hope this helps.

Yeah and I'd say most of their selection would be considered "vintage". LOL! This coming from a dude that literally has shelves of 80's figures in the box downstairs in his gameroom. LOL!

 

I hope Boykin leaves and then writes like a "tell all" article or blog or something. LOL! I don't know if his "life story" is interesting enough for a book but I think his time here would be really interesting to read about.

 

Weddle is an above average player who got paid WAY more than he's worth. He was vocal this year about his displeasure that the team wouldnt extend his contract. As big a crybaby as Rivers is on the field, he generally doesn't make much noise off it except at the beginning of the year when he said he wouldn't go to LA if(when) the team leaves. Ownership threw some more money at him and his defiant stance changed!

Morris Claiborne

 

DE Derek Wolfe currently with Denver would be a nice pickup. that would be a great 3 man rotation with Heyward and Tuitt.

 

I'm a big fan of Wolfe. That would be a solid pickup for sure.

 

I'd kick the tires on Mo Claiborne too.

 

Derek Wolfe is... Kind of illogical right? I mean, he's going to be looking at mid tier starter money. We can't afford to pay a 3rd DE the kind of money he's going to get. He's a 25 yr old free agent with starter ability...

Our cap situation (after some cleaning) is going to afford us the chance to make (I hope) an investment at CB. But a backup DE at a position of strength (in terms of starters) doesn't really make sense to me

Enjoy the mastery of tackling prowess that is Antwon Blake while you can - he's a UFA at season's end. [Random aside: "Season's End" sounds like that period film starring Anthony Hopkins, who it strikes me could probably play CB better than Blake.]

Of course, having said that I've probably jinxed it and he'll be this offseason's recipient of the Cortez Allen Memorial contract.

 

Yeah, I typically use OTC and Spotrac interchangeably for FA/cap related info and have had issues with the former lately, too. Guessing they may be updating some board software/servers.

 

No I bet Blake is gonna command a way bigger price tag than we can afford. I mean he's probably looking at a $100 million deal. My guess is we cut Ben to make cap space for Bell. I really better shut up before Tomlin gets any ideas. LOL!

 

I wonder about Walter Thurmond.

The crop of Safeties isn't outstanding - I wonder if they let Shamarko go over the summer and pick up back ups with potential at that position. It's not a list that you want to end up overpaying for someone from.

 

Hey, Blake didn't throw any interceptions this season at all. And Ben made no tackles on defense. So the statistics say keep Blake over Ben.

And you can't argue with statistics.

 

as a former bills fan i was just about to come in here and mention this. Ive seen it for YEARS in buffalo, players get unhappy really fast. i would love to see mario in black and gold, he really is a great player. my guess is he gave up this season to go to a real team.

If we had the money for him I'd take him over anybody out there. Maybe since he's farther along in his career he'd wanna play for a true contender and might take a pay cut to do it but I doubt it. The thing is though that Jason Worilds was irritated that he supposedly kept getting used in coverage so maybe Mario might think the same thing could happen to him here that happened to him in Buffalo.

 

personally i think he might be a decent place here if he is used right. i think he was using that as an excuse, cause in 15 games he fell back into coverage 5 times, which is actually the norm for his position.
