I don't know how early Duffy is going to go...

But if they want to win games with their defense in a battle of field position another year with Berry is not going to cut it.

When you do not have an offense that can stretch the field, shortening the field becomes your next best friend.

UDFA is the best option, too many needs at other positions.

Danny Smith was at Georgia Techs pro day for P Pressly Harvin. He won the Ray Guy award last year

I don't think the Steelers have the luxury of drafting a punter this year. Depth is needed at almost every position. If there is a guy they like available with one of the 7th round picks...maybe.

I would have no problem drafting a P in the 6th or 7th round.

A practice squad depth piece or starting punter?

Right, A starting Punter would instantly improve your defenses field position by easily 10 yards every drive! Is a 5th or 6th round backup player going to do that?

Disappointed that they resigned Berry, so no Punter in the draft.

Berry was good last year after they re-signed him. If he can keep that up I’d stick with him for the min salary.

Id prefer to take a flyer on a linebacker or corner in the 6th and / or 7th, somebody that can play special teams and provide emergency depth for the defence.

Yes. Getting the top punter in the draft in the 7th will work.

    Pressley Harvin III

Georgia Tech senior Pressley Harvin III (Alcolu, S.C./Sumter) was named the winner of the 2020 Ray Guy Award as the college football's top punter during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday night.Jan 7, 2021

Harvin is 255 pounds. I'd give him a part time job as lead blocker for Harris

And he's an inspiration to all those overweight little boys who dream of being punters! :applaud:

Supposedly in HS he was good enough for several different positions, but chose to stay solely a punter. Who knows if another position would have garnered his success, but you have to love a guy who who can stay focused enough to kick a hundred or so balls a day and keep that frame in him.

I was that chubby kid who spent hours kicking off a tee trying to be either Roy Gerela or George Blanda. Now I am an old fat man still dreaming of being the next George Blanda.
