Report: Robert Kraft decided to cut Antonio Brown, Tom Brady disagrees

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady pointedly refused to reveal his personal feelings about the team’s decision to cut Antonio Brown, but behind the scenes he reportedly disagreed with it.

Tom E. Curran of NBCSportsBoston.com reports that Brady is not happy that Brown got cut, as Brady viewed Brown as a uniquely talented receiver who would make an enormous difference to the Patriots’ offense.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft made the decision to cut Brown, despite Brady’s disagreement, according to the report.

In fact, the report says that while Kraft was emphatic about cutting Brown after the publication of threatening texts from Brown to the woman who has accused him in a lawsuit of sexual assault, Patriots coach Bill Belichick probably would have kept Brown if it had been up to him.

Ordinarily Kraft delegates personnel decisions to Belichick, but this appears to be a rare — maybe even unprecedented — case of Kraft making the decision himself, without Brady and Belichick being on board.

Maybe im just old but I can't read anything on Twitter. I can't tell what anyone is saying or who's replying to who or who they are talking to. It's nonsense .

 

I haven't seen this mentioned, but when he was released by the Patriots, they still have $9M in signing bonus against their cap, right?

While I don't like seeing AB rewarded for bad behavior, I don't mind seeing NE on the hook for their part in it.

EDIT: I'm looking at SpotTrac. They list Brown as having a 1 year contract with the Pats, but his signing bonus is split over 2019 and 2020. How does that work?

I agree with you 100% but I won't lose too much sleep over it. There are plenty of people who the world is just better off without. I got to watch his greatness when he played for my team and I'm happy for it.

 

My guess is that the Pats and Raiders may actually end up paying Brown, at least partially. They knew what they were signing up for so no sympathy.

 

What's an attention whore to do when the stage on which he excels is pulled away?

I guess take pathetic shots at other players on social media to keep yourself in the discussion.

Advice to AB: restrict your insults to those teams where you've already burned the bridges, your options are limited , don't trash the few perspective employers that are left. Remember you and a sleeping bag under a bridge deck are only months away, and winter is coming.
