He's not holding out. If he was he wouldn't get a penny from the Steelers it would only end up costing him money in fines. Caving into his demands(if there were any) would set an awful precedent and screw the Steelers long term.

It's comical how smart you think you are. Board rules prohibit me from saying what I'd really like to, if I have to abide them, so do you, keep it to yourself from now on.

Back to the topic on hand, who cares if Bell is on his rookie contract, by your reasoning with AB, Bell is out performing his contract, how is it different? Other than being on his first contract which means absolutely nothing in regards to your argument that you are making for AB.

why do people keep saying AB is the best in the league?
    it's just not true
so what he led the league in yards ONE time
D Thomas would have surpassed him if the Broncos actually tried to play the last 2 games and if he wasn't injured.
    and
A Brown ruined our playoff chances the previous year by stepping out of bounds against Miami
    and
I have no idea where he was is 2012 I believe Heath had better stats.
    and

Worse than any of the above. He made me write a 10 page paper in support of the theory that Dick Lebeau had "man love" for Troy P that blinded him to Troy's decline. He called it "moderator sensitivity training designed to better understand diverse viewpoints." It hurt... bad.

I'd like to see it to be honest.
    LOL
I'm not saying I don't believe it, just I think it would be a good read(as usual). I'm sure it's probably something we could all learn from in more ways than one.
what would a wall of text hurt?
what do we have like 7 days or so until the IF.?
Shirley I could finish reading it in seven days.
Then again, maybe ,TTF hasn't finished reading it because of ALL the red remarks he is having to put down.

Well, others think I am kinda bright, or they wouldn't pay me for my thoughts. Know what I mean? Guess what? They do. Cash to get my thoughts.

Otherwise, a rookie, coming off one year of being hurt mostly, and having a great second year (and getting hurt again and not available for a play off game, contributing to a home loss to our most-hated rival), is not the same thing as a veteran in his 2nd contract, offering the best production in the entire NFL, being paid only 14th highest at this position.......and you don't know the difference? I can't help you. Some fans choose to be zealots, and not apply logic. Once they do that, there is no hope in offering reason and logic to the discussion.

Ok... when someone says "penny for your thoughts?" - it's just a saying. Don't let it get to your head.

So you believe in "honoring a contract" when it comes to the player, but not the team. So you believe in operating in double standards? Not sure how sound this thinking is. So, the player should endlessly honor any contract they sign, but the team itself can just blow a contract off completely, but the same thinking, for some unknown reason, doesn't apply? They signed a contract with Woodley but then cut him before his contract was fulfilled, so I am sure you were against that, right? Some of you act as if the contract isn't SIGNED by both parties. I got news for you: When these contracts are made, the TEAM also signs it. So, they SIGN the contract to. But, they are allowed to just cut a player, thereby, NOT honoring the contract. They signed Harrison to a deal, but decided they didn't want to honor it. They asked him to take a pay cut and when he didn't want to, they cut him. Did you have a problem with them doing that? I want to know if you steadfastly agree that honoring a contract should apply to all parties.

It appears you are coming up short on how NFL contracts work.

In exchange for the right to cut a player, the player generally agrees to accept a bonus up front. That is the trade off and is a know part of the contract. The player has the right to retire during a contract. Troy for example. He did not break the contract. The Steelers cut players. The do not ask for a pro rata portion of the bonus back when they do. That is in accordance with the contract. Players are not forced to take a pay cut. They never are and that would be a violation of the contract. A player may be told he is bring cut and he is being offered a new contract at a reduced salary. Bettie for example. He can accept employment or turn it down. All within the contract NFL and player terms. If there was any violation, assuredly a grievance would be filed.

Players should honor their contracts just as the teams do.

Now, when a team can actually negotiate a salary down, then players can hold out to have them negotiated up.
