Im sharing because as a former player I respect and enjoy JT O'Sullivan's analysis. I think it's pretty spot on and I appreciate someone explaining and illustrating where his weaknesses are rather than saying he sucks and calling him a bust.

I saw a clip he is the first rookie QB in history with a TD pass in the final minute to win back to back games. Whether that means a hill of beans who knows but you know how every media source vomits stats these days.

Great Analysis. The play where Pickens stepped out I was so pissed live at our RT. He blew that play so bad. Then on the game winner he o-layed the defender right to Kenny causing the scramble.

This was a great video. Acknowledging the talent..but also showing what many have noted on the board, that he steps out to fast far to often. That will be the next step in growth. Would love to see how some others were at this point, Burrow, Lawrence, etc and the transition into the next year.

You can tell that the game is moving quite fast for him. He's got happy feet and is often bouncing rather than pivoting. But the good thing is that despite it moving fast, he appears up to the task. He's still seeing the reads and making the throws. The game will slow down for him over time. Whether he turns into an elite weapon, time will tell. He's got the tools

The play at approx 18:30 is my favourite throw I've ever seen him make. So many QB's can't make that throw. It's far more difficult to do that than a 50 yard go route.

If I remember correctly, O'Sullivan wasn't a fan of Pickett before the draft.

I agree with his take on the first play. I think I even commented on it at the time on the game thread. The way Pickett moved around in the pocket didn't look great, but he did find the right receiver to convert the third down.

On the second play, he is right about Pickett bailing on the pocket too soon, but I don't think that corner route to the right is as open as he seems to think. Despite the poor leverage, Humphrey is all over Pickens.

He does have an interesting take on the play that Hamilton lit Pickett up. I think the Ravens fooled the blocking scheme, but O'Sullivan makes a good point about the quarterback needing to see the blitzer coming and realize no one is in a position to pick him up.

He is but he seems to make it work. Sometimes he puts himself in harms way perhaps but the one major thing KP is doing now that I like is reading a bit better to the point where he does not feel he has to take off every down.

He breaks the pocket too much , but He's Young, and I believe will learn. He also has to identify a free rusher.....again.....He's Young, and I just want things for Him way too quickly. LoL.
Good thing is .....He's scrambling to throw, and not to just run.
I think the kid has all the tools He needs. I'm proud He's a Steeler.

He is a rookie playing behind a line that struggles in pass protection. He also trusts his own mobility, perhaps a bit too much. Those are things that come with experience.

Right or wrong, KP likes to scramble because he likes broken plays. I’m not making the comparison but Mahomes was like that early in his career. When they scramble the field opens up, defenders have to defend too long and get out of position. So KP sees scrambling and extending plays as a method. Ultimately he will see stepping up in the pocket as having the same effect.
Have we all forgotten how often Ben tucked the ball and ran his rookie season?

Someone seems to have been in his ear about the amount of running he is/was doing. It's not a good thing to run more then what is deemed necessary. Good way. to shorten a career.

It's a long off season..if (a big if lol) the running game continues to evolve..Harris and Warren, then the play action becomes a legitimate threat..and both these guys are bona-fide passcatchers as well. I like what I'm seeing from Pickens, Muth, and even Sims and Heyward. This is a very young O, get an OC that knows how to consistently put together a game plan and the weapons are there.

Roethlisberger also had a knack for doing his best work on broken plays for a long time, though hopefully Pickett comes around in that regard a little sooner.

    *sigh*
I could write a book on this, but JT is pretty good.

Pickett's mobility is a tool. Defenses know he is very capable of taking off so when he moves, he gets the defenses attention, and they break coverage.
There are some reads he does miss but what I look for is repetition of the same error, and it does not happen often.
He starting to incorporate those little things, Hard Counts, looking Safeties off, the scramble thing, etc.... he's not Aaron Rodgers who employs every trick in the book.
The progress from some of those interceptions, to his latest stingy antics is pretty cool.
And one of the things not mentioned is his coolness, the kid is ice.

My complaint: In Nov/Dec, you gotta have a beard man. :)

I am biased, but KP is going to make mistakes, but he is also
going to try his best to correct these mistakes. Yes he needs to work on things
and he will. Keep surrounding him with quality players (LT) proven running game week in week out
You will see he can lead us to greater things. He cares, he is prideful.

This! And some don't want to upgrade the offensive line, especially the left side.

In Kenny I trust, at least what I've seen so far. I really believe he could be our guy for the next 10 years. My problem, as I mentioned before is his career is going to be alongside Burrow, Allen, Mahomes, and that Lawrence guy seems to be coming into his own. My dream, they all move to NFC with Brady;)
