The 5-1 Ravens are looking quite pathetic vs Houston today - - down 26-3 at half - and for what it's worth we haven't looked quite this anemic (so far) - although our competition has been lacking.

(sorry didn't see the other Ravens/Houston topic)

perhaps I should have said: At least our 1st half O and D haven't looked this anemic. I'll refrain from any 2nd half references.

It sure feels good to see them suck. Harbaugh's expression is priceless.

Here is the thing though they are basically giving the coaching staff a blueprint for how to attack the Ravens on both sides of the ball. The Steelers would be foolish not to take advantage of it. The Houstan defense is blocking throws left and right and it is not about pressure it is just about watching Flacco and anticipating his throws. WE all know the lack of pressure on the defensive side of the ball is one of the Steelers number one problems so they should be looking at how to do what the Texans are doing which is getting in passing lanes, getting their hands up and trying to block the pass.

We don't get in passing lanes, we leave them wide open. I see what you're saying, but the problem is we can't do what the Texans are doing. We don't stop the run nearly as well as they do, meaning Ray Rice will run the ball down our throats, which will leave the passing game open to Flacco. Plus their CB's are far superior to our CB's in every way. It's easy to want our guys to just copy what they are doing, but our guys don't have the same abilities. Joseph is one of the best CB's in the league.

Not to mention they can run the ball, we can't.

There were a couple of times in the Titans game where if Kiesel disengages and gets his hands up he could have blocked a pass. Instead they seem intent on driving into Oline players and not looking at disrupting passing lanes. Same thing on CB/DB blitzes, 9 times out of 10 they just run into the RB and his block instead of trying to get their hands up. I am not saying copy it play for play but look at what is working and try to work some of it into the gameplan on both sides of the ball.

Yes they Texans can run the ball alot of it is personnel but I think it is an attitude they they are going to line up and maul teams and run the ball regardless of what they do to try and stop them. We haven'thad that attitude since Bettis nor has the OLine had it either. I was encouraged when Colon was getting into fights during camp and that Decastro was suppose to have a mean streak, but DD got hurt and Colon seems to only want to fight teammates. No one has that I am going to block you into the endzone on every play mentality.

The 5-1 Ravens are a mirage, I have been saying all year that they aren't that good. They could easily have our record right now, teams move the ball all over them, the only difference between them and us is they have managed to hold onto their leads by the skin of their teeth whereas we haven't. I know their is something to be said for that but my point is, they aren't dominating anyone. There are no power houses in the AFC which is something that should all make us feel good.

I'll get back to you in about 8 hours about how good this really makes me feel. If the Ravens fall today (appears likely) we will only be down by 1 game in the loss column for at least 7 hours or so.

If they lose and we win, we're only a game behind them in the loss column. I hope the Steelers realize how fortunate they are and START PLAYING STEELERS FOOTBALL THE REST OF THE WAY!

sure we coudl have the same record.. problem is good teams win the close games.. bad teams lose the close games... the average team is going to win 1/3....lose 1/3 and what happens in the other third is what seperates a winner from a loser.... this is more true in baseball but still applies to mid range football teams (like the steelers this year)

yeah one behind in the loss column but two in the win column and thats IF we win.. we havnt won on the road yet this year .. and at least 2 of the games the teams were lower ranked than the bengals? the spread is steelers by 1 to pick em. and i think thats about right .. toss a coin.. if we play this game IN cincinnati.. we probably go 5 and 5 this season

We were 12-4 last year and many here think we weren't as good as our record. Thats the Ravens this year, not as good as their record.

I agree, but in the end, how much does that matter? Teams don't make the playoffs based on how good they are, they get in based on their record. Unless we start winning some games, it won't matter how good we are or how bad the Ravens are, we aren't going to make the playoffs.

Besides, I still don't have any faith we will beat the Ravens. We can beat them, but I have little faith we will

They are really going to miss Ray Ray's leadership on the field, just like we've missed Farrior's , Ward's and Smith's.

Nah, they're saying he just got hit in the ribs. He's a drama queen with injuries sometimes, I think, like our Pouncey. Not that Pouncey doesn't get legitimately hurt, just that every time he does it looks like his career is over by the way he's rolling around in pain. Then he comes back in two plays later, or misses one game, or whatever.

I'm a diehard Steelerfan and we would get killed by the texans as well today. They are playing serious ball on both sides of the ball.

The only thing that the Rats blowout does for me regarding the Steelers is show that the Steelers can win both games against them this season. The Steelers are 2-3 but have not been blown out - and have outplayed most of their opponents. While I don't like their record, I am more optimistic about them putting things together and making a real good run at things. The Ravens have some real problems - especially on defense after today. Their offense doesn't look too good either.
