Good memory! Purple People Eaters! Always rooted for them except against us of course. I remember that play but can't remember who they played. I know it resulted in a safety for the other team.

They always had the talent but never could win the big one. Felt kinda sorry for Bud Grant as a coach.

I was more worried about him pulling a Marlon McCree. I was yelling “get down!”

Run Jim Run! Wait, what, the OTHER WAY!

Sure seemed like Bush was going to be the 2nd one to do it. Can you imagine being tackled by your own teammate? :lolol:

Orange Crush:mad: those late 80's early 90's Broncos just irritated me.

Some in the local media believe Spillane is better.
    Certainly better in run defense.

99% on this board lives in the past, so I figured it would be understood.

Towards the end of Noll’s career when I first started to really get into football it was always the Oilers and Warren Moon run and shoot and the Broncos that seemed to give the Steelers a tough loss that ended the season. I remember just hating Mecklenburg because he'd wreck the Steelers run game.

That was way back in the days when the same 4 guys who trotted out and lined up as the defensive line played every defensive snap.
Purple People eaters were Alan Page, Carl Eller, Gary Larsen and Jim Marshall.
It was Marshall that ran a fumble back 60 yds and spiked the ball resulting in a safety.

Didn't SB9 have the embarrassing Tarkenton to Tarkenton completion where the ball is batted back to Fran and then he threw it for a long completion that gets overturned?

One of my buddies from growing up is in our fantasy league. We’ve had this league over 20 years and he’s never won a championship. Made the final game a few times but always loses.

Whenever he talks trash, I call him Bud Grant or Marv Levy and respond to his texts with just pictures of those two coaches.

Both Bud and Marv seemed like classy n humble guys it is a shame neither one won the big one.

The fact that he lost 4 Superbowls often overshadows the accomplishment that he won 4 consecutive AFCCG games and led to 4 consecutive SB appearances. It just staggering to think about a coach doing that just as free agency was really starting to take off.
