If Dark Knight Rises was the one filmed in the Burgh I was there when explosions went off in a building downtown. I think it was the year that PNC hosted the MLB ASG.

    Sports Comedies

    1. Slap Shot. "They brought their f**kin' toys!"
    2. Caddyshack "Don't sell yourself short, judge. You're a tremendous slouch."
    3. Major League "Are you trying to tell me Jesus Christ can't hit a curve ball?"
    4. The Water Boy "You said it was gonna be a touchdown pass you crazy a**hole!"
    5. Happy Gilmore "How 'bout a nice warm cup of shut the hell up!"

Honorable mentions: "The Longest Yard" ('74). The remake was too over the top. "North Dallas Forty". More of a dramedy, but had some hilarious scenes. "The Best of Times". Little known movie from the early 80's with Kurt Russell and Robin Williams. Kind of had it's slow spots, but it's worth it for the ending. "Dodgeball". It's just friggin' hilarious. "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!"

    Sports dramas

    1. Raging Bull One of my favorite movies of any genre. It is a brilliant masterpiece. "I've done a lot of bad things, Joey. Maybe it's comin' back to me. Who knows? I'm a jinx maybe. Who the hell knows?"

    2. Miracle "And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it." Herb Brooks speech right before they played the Russians gave me chills. I wanted to smash someone into the boards, lol.

    3. The Natural. "Well you're better than any player I ever had. And you're the best God damn hitter I ever saw. Suit up."

    4. Eight Men Out "I may be dumb fellas, but I ain't stupid."

    5. Grand Prix Makes my list because I'm a huge racing fan, and the cinematography in this movie is breathtaking. So is the music score. "Then I go into one of these, these cars: you sit in a box, a coffin, gasoline all around you."

Honorable mentions. The first two Rocky movies. Mr. T and Hulk Hogan made Rocky III viewable. "Million Dollar Baby" was great, but sad. "Hoosiers" is just a wonderful movie. I loved "The Wrestler". Some others: The original "Rollerball", "Kansas City Bomber" (the older guys will appreciate this one. It's worth watching just to behold Raquel Welch!), "Days of Thunder" is campy and unrealistic, but entertaining. "All the Right Moves" is the better sports movie with Tom Cruise.

I forgot about "Mystery, Alaska". Huge fan of Russell Crowe. That movie was a sleeper and had some funny lines: "I play hockey and I fornicate, 'cause those are the two most fun things to do in cold weather."

I always liked that movie. Kurt Russell was completely believable as a varsity QB. He and Robin Williams had some chemistry in that movie. I read years ago that he played minor league baseball and was a .400 hitter until a knee injury ended his career. There is an old comedy from 1980 called "Used Cars" that he starred in with Jack Warden that is incredibly funny if you've never seen it.

Not usually a fan of sports movies because they are usually corny to me. In my opinion Raging Bull is the best I’ve seen by far.

In my humble opinion, this is The Who's finest album. Overture is one of my favorite pieces of music. Pete Townsend is a genius.

Is it actually a spoiler when the movie in question was released 40-50 years ago?
