    Steelers sign the trick shot qb as a free agent! (*correction, invited to rookie try outs, if the video is any indication, he should make the team.)

    I think i've probably seen him on Sports Nation or Tosh.O;

    If nothing else, he could be the half-time entertainment! :towel: :towel:

    Can he read a defense?

    Can he read a defense on the fly?

    Does he have that kind of accuracy when 7 270-330lb. angry men are bearing down on him trying to kill him and 65,000 fans are screaming?

    I'll not count the kid out. But I'm not about to proclaim him the heir apparent either.

    he threw for 14,249 yards in college and 157 TD's. i'd say he's doing something right. do you want to give that away or slowly bring it along? :cool:

    His video was better than Johnny McEntee's from UCONN - link below. As a UCONN fan, I can tell you that the ability to make "trick throws" has not manifested in quality on field quarterbacking for McEntee yet. He was not solid in his 1st season as a starter last year, and made a ton of inaccurate throws when players were moving (and a lot of bad decisions). I went to the UCONN spring game 2 weeks ago, and he was the 3rd best QB, and looked pretty bad. The 2nd best was just a high school senior who graduated in December so that he could be with the team this spring.

    As for Tanney - the numbers are very good, and definitely show that he is capable of more than trick throws. It would be an uphill climb to make a roster, but who knows? Stranger things have happened. I like the throw into the accelerating truck. Maybe he could actually hit Wallace at full stride. That truck was moving at about Wallace speed :)

    This is from Wikipedia:

    Tanney declared for the 2012 NFL Draft and was projected as low as a sixth round pick. However, he was not chosen by any team. He was invited to the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie mini-camps as an undrafted free agent.

    On May 1, 2012, Tanney announced via Twitter he would not travel to train with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and would instead take a rookie mini-camp spot for the Buffalo Bills.

    Probably feels he has a better chance of making the roster on the Bills.

    Actually signing with the Bills is the better move for him; he'll have a much better chance to earn some reps there.

    The last part where he hits the kids on bikes is pretty funny. Amazing show he put on. Not sure anything he did would translate at all to the NFl but that was pretty amazing stuff.

    Looks like the Steelers had a rookie QB coming in for an invite, but he switched and pick Buffalo. I wonder if he thinks he's got a better shot of making the team there? I'd like to have a younger back-up in Pittsburgh though.
