I would have zero issue with any of the names on helmets if they would just set 1 rule. That rule is the name that they are paying homage to was not involved with an actual crime.

But maybe that's just because I'm old enough to remember Ben not being allowed to have PFJ written on the tape of his shoes. Play For Jesus.

I can see this coming back to bite the NFL in the ass. Don’t think that is what they intended.

Don’t have a problem with what AV did though, the man he is honoring is a hero. There was enough others on the team addressing the cause.

It's a good thing it was Villanueva who did it or people would freak out.

I'm glad that he honored a fallen hero but the NFL needs to stay out of Politics altogether. I couldn't carry on that way at my work and neither should the players, coaches or even owners. Help heal the community on your own time. Do something positive instead of just raising awareness.

exactly, Antwan was at the least an accessory to a drive by shooting, if successful Antwan would have been charged with murder.

Well if cops wanted to avoid creating a martyr maybe they should have arrested the kid instead of killing him when he ran away unarmed.

Villanueva is getting annoying. I didn't agree with what they put on their helmet but he needs to stick with the team and stop pulling the I served card and I can do whatever I want.

I agree, I worry how his teammates look at him. It is important the team sticks together.

So it's ok to say that the dead kid the Steelers decided to remember on their helmets is a criminal but not to bring up the fact that he was never given the opportunity to prove that he was not a criminal because he was killed while unarmed and running away from the police? I guess I don't understand the rules on what is fair to discuss then.

Exactly, I respect him the most out of anybody on the roster for his service. I'm sure a lot of players want to do something else like kneel but they stuck with the team. Meanwhile he keeps getting a pass for doing his own thing like he's above everybody else. If he can't stick with the whole football team decision then give up your NFL checks and go do something else.

What matters is that everyone is on the same page as far as the message is concerned..... Bottom line is that these senseless killings need to stop

And we allowed you to respond to it. Elvis is just trying to keep the thread from going off the rails.

The problem is we mods are sometimes too lenient but the rules are pretty clear.

It’s impossible for these threads not to devolve into discussions that will go against board rules.

Please stop posting them, we will just start deleting these topics with extreme prejudice.
