    High expectations!
There were only 6 wins I could enjoy for more than a day or two without immediately worrying about the next game.

The losses always hurt more than the wins bring joy.

You just have to remember a couple things.
    Tomlin sucks
    Bell has lost it
Despite ben’s 40% completion rate in the redzone it’s coaching( see #1)

Imagine if the internet was around in the 80's and 90's.

The internet WAS around in the 90s. It wasn't like it is now. And instead of message boards, Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook, there was a thing called Usenet. Think of Usenet as a primordial Reddit... It wasn't pretty. That's where trolling, flaming, internet tough guys, and tribalism for certain points of view was born.

Fire Cowher, Kordell sucks, we'll never win until we go back to a4-3, block numbers, etc etc all began on Usenet. Wars between "true fans" and "realists" were far nastier. And there were no rules. No profanity filters. No subject was out of bounds. Religious, political and race wars often broke out in the middle of something as innocuous as a discussion of the zone blitz. If you think it's bad in here after a loss, you have no idea what bad is. :lolol:

And then the icing on the cake was the packs of haters from other teams fanning the flames even higher.

The worst posters here - by whatever definition you would use - are quaint by comparison. ;)

I will only speak for myself but win or lose I come here and discuss what was good or bad. A few games ago I was at my all time low and went off a bit. With that said take a game like we just played vs the Lions. Yeah we won the game but honestly we shouldn't have. I could not imagine this place if we were the lions.

Caldwell going for it on 4th down that early cost them the game. All them redzones after that could have been fg's instead of a must go for the td. I could not even think of what this board would have been saying if it were Tomlin that did that.....myself included.

Stafford threw for over 400 yards and nothing to show for it. If Ben did that holy cow this place would have been full of the fire Haley posts.

Also I read a stat on how many big plays we gave up, not good. I know we won the game but really I don't know how. I think the Lions lost the game more than we won it. The dropped passes and missed wide open receivers were nothing to be proud of. Yeah we had 5 redzone stops and this D stepped up when it needed to that was great but what about the other times outside of the 20's?

We as Steeler fans know this better that anyone, we know this team is loaded on both sides of the ball. IMO we shouldn't lose a game, we have a veteran QB, a very good oline if not the best and one of if not the best wr & rb in the game. We should score 30 a game in our sleep so for many of us that come here to talk about our Steelers don't mean we are not happy with a win just means we know we can do more. jmo Go Steelers

Always has been and always will be that way. Loses are worse because you get to see how many people say fire tomlin, haley.. colbert has no idea how to hire to make this team great, ben is finished lol.. and a host of other non issues

For me, a team losing (rather than the other team winning) is about out of the ordinary, catastrophic mistakes. The Bengals committing penalties to lose in the play offs, for example.

When it's about QBs missing open receivers, or a call made on 4th down when there was still a lot of game to be played... that's just part of the game, and both sides will have their equal share of it. It's just that some people perceive the other team to have made mistakes which let us win, and some people perceive our team to have made mistakes so we could have won by much more. So for me, I don't think the Lions lost the game more than we won it. There were errors on both sides, and good play on both sides.

    This.

I'll also add that those redzone stops were some great defensive plays. That wasnt your run of the mil ineptitude redzone offense by the Lions.

I don't see the problem with criticism. The offense was supposed to be in the top 5 and many of us expected it to be a lot better than it is at the current moment. I'll say it.. I think the Steelers are pretenders who will be 1 and done in the playoffs, judging by the inconsistency on both sides of the ball. The defense has been "Jeckyl" for the most part, but when is "Hyde" gonna rear it's ugly head again like it did vs. the Jacksonville and Chicago RBs? The offense is mediocre at best and has done just enough to get by in the first 8 games.

As much as Terry Bradshaw says Steelers fans treated him badly in the 80s, can you imagine how he'd feel now with the Internet and social media?

Actually, it wasn't as bad back then, because us had to know how to set up and get to usenets. Now every Yahoo can jump on with their phone/pad or refrigerator and spew nonsense.

I'm versed enough to remember having to call someones second landline to connect to his message board.

The Sporting News message boards were classic. This was when the internet was young and during the Steelers "down years" from '98-'00. Some of the sh!t talking that would go on was freakin' hilarious. The best smack I've ever seen was between Eagles and Bucs fans when the Eagles were knocking the Bucs out of the playoffs during the Dungy years. I laughed so hard I cried at some of the posts that went down on Sporting News. Good times.

Don't get me wrong. It was entertaining. But it was also vicious. And it was very easy for threads to devolve intro feces flinging. Saw some colorful and original insulting at least.

6-2. Tomlin likes to say we are what our record says we are. In the w column, little can be gained by us as fans hand wringing over what we didn't do right. These other teams have scholarship players, too as Gerry "Moon" Mullins used to say, and sometimes things don't always fall our way. I know this, if we finish at 12-4, Vegas money says we probably get a first round bye and there is a good chance home field advantage throughout. That's all any Steeler fan can ask for at this point. Glass half-empty rant complete.

Lions fans saying our redzone d wasn’t good, it was just their ineptitude lol.

Ok being #2 in ppg and 4th in ypg on defense is just a stupid useless stat

We were the better team. We didn't play our A ball and still won. That my friends is what good teams do.

It's actually still alive - it's called Steeler Fury - after 5 minutes at that site you feel like you need to shower. Thank you TTF and Mods for keeping it honest here! Speaking of honest - where's the good Reverend been hiding out these days? The Little Rocket Man didn't drop the big one on Maynardsville TN did he?
