My understanding is regardless if the play was negated the dead ball penalty will still be enforced as it wasnt a part of the play...it happened after the play.

I also can't stand that kind of thing.

In a lot of cases, I find it hard to understand how players know that they're not allowed to do it, and do it anyway. When the excessive celebration thing was first brought in in the late '80s I could understand if players were unlearning bad habits. But these days, there's too much swagger for very little.

    HOWEVER

I'm also thinking about it from the Chief's side (Kansas, that is, not THE chief...). They're 1-8. They've had their chances and they haven't capitalised. Spirits must be on the edge of dropping completely. It wouldn't surprise me if the coaches and team leaders were working on bolstering their self-esteem a bit by jumping around for every positive play they get. It looks stupid, but it does make sense.

I guess that helps explain why they're 1-8. Less time dancing and more time practicing football would probably serve them better. Idiots !

Think of it the same way you would with a unnecessary roughness call. If that same play occurred and I punch someone in the face afterwards, I'm still get that penalty regardless if the play was reversed because I still committed a penalty outside of the play. :blackeye:

I laughed out loud at Cassel when he got a first down and acted like he won the Super Bowl...I loved Larry Foote going over to him and having a chat. I dont know what he said obviously, but I can imagine it was something along the lines of that was a pretty stupid move....

Brilliant. Does this mean during the sack they were shouting "You think 'cause you're, you're big and yellow, I'm supposed to be like Mello. HELL NO! I'll start a fight in an empty room! You can call Child Abusers if you want to, but they better not come in here cos I'll kick their ass too."

Dammit, need to find that clip before those lucky enough to have erased House Party from their memories start to wonder...

When I was like 8 years old I used to watch that movie all the time! Kid-n-Play even got their own cartoon after that. They went on to make 3 House Party movies and then Play made a movie called "Class Act". Yeah it was an epic masterpiece along side all the work of my favorite filmmaker of ALL TIME Alfred Hitchcock.

They were doing the Kid 'N Play (A rap duo from the early 90's who had a signature dance named after them).

I noticed this... since we're discussing the celebrations by KC... when Ben was sacked did anyone notice the defensive players DID NOT try to break their fall and just collapsed all over Ben. It is football, but there is a discrepancy because they would throw a flag if Harrison or Woodley just crashed all over other QBs.

When they have their arms wrapped around Ben, how were they supposed to break their falls?

The cassel celebration wasnt bad at all...he was just pumped he got a first down..pretty much spontaneous ... dont mind a guy getting pumped for making a play

the other dances were pre meditated ...and lame for a team with 1 win...

Say TTF - out of curiosity - do you happen to have a video link of the dance the "Chefs" were doing following Timmons INT and then the game winning FG in OT that dropped them to a break dance worthy 1-8 record? That's the one I want to watch over and over again. It would probably look something like Suggs' infamous "Oh my God!"

Harrison and Woodley routinely put their arms out and land in a plank form so their full weight does not crush the QB. The refs will call personal foul if the defender doesn't try to break their fall and not allow full weight to fall on the QB... Of course, this probably only applies for certain QBs...

Putting their arms out and landing in a plank position doesn't decrease the impact to the QB. Tackling and holding on to the QB as they go to the ground is different than driving a QB into the ground like a tent spike.

Indeed - I'm hoping there are another half dozen plays by the Steelers this Sunday that cause him to keep singing this same tune.
