About that KC celebration penalty in the end zone..............

I was surprised that penalty was still enforced after the replay folks decided it was an incomplete pass and not a fumble. I realize it was a "dead ball" penalty but the result of the play was that the TD never occurred and in my opinion - neither did the celebration (albeit premature). Seemed strange at the time.

 

What I've been wondering is why they didn't throw a flag when they celebrated on the play where Ben got hurt. Didn't that constitute a "group celebration"?

 

I was surprised that the penalty still applied as well. Pleasantly surprised.

I wonder if Bowe will be fined for his taunting on the td that was called back.

I thought a bunch of the kc guys were a bit over the top - when Cassel ran for that first down you would have thought he won the freaking super bowl.

Probably showing my age but I hate that crap - the main reason I am not a huge AB fan.

In some ways I kinda think it's funny when really crappy players like Cassel act like that because of the irony. You are a professional football player that just GOT A FIRST DOWN which is a fundamental part of the game and you get up all excited about it. If the highlight of your season is a first down I think that's funny.

 

I didn't see a group celebration when Ben got hurt, I only saw one of the guys who sacked him dancing.

 

Go back and watch the play if you can. They put their feet together and did some weird hopping dance. I was calling for a flag during the gameday thread. You will see what I'm talking about if you can watch it.

 

The clip I've seen 100 times on TV doesn't show the Chiefs players, just Ben. I'll take a look for another one.

 

Yeah I mean if you go back and look in the gameday thread you can see that I was saying where is the flag. I'm pretty sure that was the play they did that on. It lasted for like 6 or 7 seconds too. I didn't dvr the game last night so I can't be sure where they did it at but I'm almost positive it was on that play.

You are right. It is logical that it was applied. It shouldn't be a surprise when the rules are logical - but when you are as cynical as me sometimes it is (a surprise).

No kidding, apparently coreographed sack dances are what the Chiefs do in practice. The third guy didn't get in only because the Ref was standing there and impeded his progress.
