Taking emotions out of it, they probably need to just chill and hopefully work things out.

The fan side of me wonders what Cowher and Dan Rooney would have done, they had way less tolerance for this stuff. If we can get defensive help via a trade we have to consider it no?

You're right and I did acknowledge that he may be a problem but he's on a long list. As far as costing his team a playoff berth there are plenty of guys on the team that aren't putting in half the effort that AB is. Maybe if some of them took their craft as serious as AB does we wouldn't be sitting home either.

Disagreed. AB has put up huge numbers against a lot of good teams. Hell he lit up the Saints a week ago who probably might win the whole thing.

That said, he’s definitely a cancer

Why is he supposed to change his routine? Maybe because he will have every Wednesday off until training camp. Is it really asking too much for your franchise QB and supposed leader to suck it up for the last week of the season and give his team a better chance at being sharp and at their best. Don't they basically have Monday and Tuesday off to watch film and walk through or whatever.? He needs Wednesday off too? He sits out the PS and what happens we come out the gate flat and out of sync. They do the same **** every year. How bad is that tie against Cleveland looking now. That team was a shell of what it is now. My whole point in this is leadership and if your QB isn't providing it,it's a problem. One that doesn't get enough scrutiny.
He sure as hell will take time for a radio spot though.....lead by example ....not by running his mouth

Eli had decent numbers in 2016.

You’re trying awfully hard to make others the bad guy here. AB walked out on practice and then walked out on his team during a game. I don’t give a **** how hard he works, doesn’t get a pass for that. You don’t know how hard everyone else works but at least they went to practice.

That’s true and if they could get some first round picks for him, would be well worth it in the end.

Would just be a shame to finally have a lot of cap space and have to burn it because of ABs immaturity but I don’t see him suddenly growing up. He’s just going to keep making waves.

Exactly...Do they work so hard at practice that Ben can only do the 2 days, as opposed to 3

Think whatever you want about Cowherd (I happen to think he's an idiot), but Greg Jennings says some good things that are hard to argue with. This got me thinking too. Didn't AB play at least a season with Hines? If he did, he didn't learn anything about being a good teammate.

I like it. It's risky but it allows us to get back to Steelers football.

It guarantees that our contender status is done for a couple years, but if we did trade AB and Ben, we could get a lot in return. It would really speed up the rebuild.

Ben is a big part of our problems. He's an *******.

Short term pain for long term gain. It won't happen though because we're far too complacent. Our management is so scared to do anything outside of the box.

I think the talk about parting ways with Ben is going too far. Yes, he makes some dumb mistakes. He also routinely makes plays that very few QBs can make. He’s still a franchise QB, even though he’s not perfect. I can’t imagine where we’d be without Ben. I think it’s clear that Dobbs isn’t going to be the long term answer. Can Rudolph be that guy? I don’t know. I do know that drafting a QB has proven to be a crap shoot, even if you’re able to trade into a top 10 spot.

I think a total reboot would set us back several years.

The lack of playing time in the preseason is absolutely a mistake. It has shown at the start of the last couple of seasons.

The team sits him on Wednesdays. You're just looking for an excuse to whine about Roethlisberger. It makes no sense to suddenly change the routine just because it's the final regular-season game.

It would depend on how much they embrace the change. I don't think the Ravens win 6 of their last 7 games if they don't embrace Jackson's style of play and really dedicate to running the football. The steelers with Ben hurt have always maintained his playbook and how they approach the game. I have said about the Landry Jones games I would have loved to see what he could do if he ran the OSU playboy he was comfortable with in Pittsburgh . Same with Dobbs and Rudolf. What would happen if you develop a playboy that embraced their strengths and put them in a position to succeed.

If the continue to maintain the "Steeler" way then yes you are looking at failures along the way until the new guys get the system and begin to succeed.

I think our playbook has evolved to be closer to what a guy like Rudolph should be comfortable with. We are in shotgun most of the time, and there are RPO calls at the line. It’s not like a young QB would be coming into a offense based on an I formation power run game like we did more of during the Cowher years.

Ben on the "AB story" -

“He is such an incredible talent and I’ve been blessed to have him as my teammate and truly a good friend, one of my better friends on the team....That’s the kind of baffling thing to me is people are making a big deal about a walk-through on Wednesday, that there was a blow up, a fight between he and I, I don’t know anything about that...If there was a blowup or something I should as heck didn’t see it. This big deal was made about that, and I’m not really sure where that comes from. I talked to AB on Thursday morning - because after the walk through AB left on Wednesday. And on Thursday morning I talked to AB and everything was great and fine and then this story just keeps growing. So like I said, I consider him to be one of my closest friends on the team, so I’m not really sure where some of this blowup is coming from.”

I'm sorry if it's true that a lack of giving their best runs rampant with this team including the coaches. The things they say and the way they perform so inconsistently proves that.

I don't see the correlation of Ben being responsible for AB's "monthly visitor". AB routinely sulks if he isn't getting his touches, whether the Steelers are winning or not. The only problem I see there is that Ben attempts to force the ball to the the little b^stard to keep him from melting down. I'm not saying Ben has always been a choir boy, but I never questioned his desire to help his team win. AB is just a selfish pr!ck, and as much as I appreciate his work ethic, his talent and marvel at his overall performance, I wouldn't bat an eye if they traded him because his act is growing thin.

Wow, thanks for posting that. That was great insight.

Steelers have a lot of work to do this offseason. Hope they can figure this out.

AB is an awesome talent but his need for the ball hurts them. Perfect example, Panthers game. Ben spread that ball around to everyone and it was their best offensive game of the season.

I don't watch his press conferences, or listen to them unless it's played on SNR. It doesn't change the fact you're full of crap .
