4 years, 68 million dollar extension! 17mil/yr on the dot. Well done. Love the term and don't mind the dollars one bit. Got what he was worth.

I like the contract and the years. But lifetime? I believe he will be 32 when the contract is up...

Crap! What a bone-headed move by the Steelers. I hear this year's crop of college lacrosse players is UNPRECEDENTED!!!

My thought exactly. Heck he could have 5 more years after these 5. And those could be anywhere.

Very humble in his post signing interview. I think his business is booming persona maybe growing up.

37 isn't likely, but something in between 32 and 37 is. Time well tell though

Whether he's one "for life" or not doesn't matter as much to me as whether he's one for the absolute best and most dominant years of his career. Do I want to see him retire here? Yes. But not if he hangs on too long and starts hurting the team. I'm glad we will get the prime years from him though.

Im not worried about 5 years from now. Both he and Steelers have expressed they want him to spend his career in Pittsburgh.

They took the first step to ensuring that today. I'll think about his next contract in 5 years.

Ever wonder..... so at 17m per season.... and 8 home games..... a ticket holder will be paying about $33 per home game to support AB.

Good for him. He certainly earned it.

Even more important now to get that QB in the draft, to be able to get the ball to this high priced superstar
when Ben calls it a career.

He's got the money, now he needs the hardware to go with it. It'd be a shame for him not to get a ring.

Good news, and I hope his interview behavior is a sign that he's at least trying to be a little more mature. And I agree, AB needs a ring, so Steelers, get out there and help him get one!

Not bad. Under 70 million, only 19 million guaranteed. Lets just hope he fully honors this contract this time ;+) Because in 2 years when people are signing for 20 mill per a season, this is going to to seem like a steal.

I know it's the going rate (or will be), but I just can't see having this much money per year tied up in a skill player. With this much committed to AB, the team better hope and pray that either Ben plays for at least 5 more years, or they hit a home run when it comes to drafting a new QB. A WR is only as good as the guy who's throwing him the ball.

It also paints teams into a corner when they find themselves up against the cap. Look at the Vikings and Peterson 's situation. You have a player coming off injuries and at a point where skills are on the decline yet due to make 18 mil for the year. I'm sure the Vikings would love to have him back but not at that price compared to the risk involved.

Yeah, the only ones it seems to hurt is the fans who are invested in certain players. I still think we would have had Heath another year or so if his base salary hadn't balloned up to over 11 million his last year due to restructuring. He knew they had no choice but to cut him so he retired instead of forcing that terrible choice. Man one more year was all we needed Heath.
