Ah ha, further proof DHB can play any position, and is under utilized.

Like both picks but worried we picked up Mason a year or two too early. If he's any good and the rest of the league sees it we'll never be able to keep him.

Washington is a no nonsense tough WR. Great job getting him in here round 2.

I'll be keeping an eye on the young man's combine numbers, but everything else is almost exact. Both 6', both 210lbs, and both burners. I highly doubt we take a WR in the 1st and I highly doubt he lasts until our 2nd Round pick. He would fit the bill of that home run hitting deep threat though. [IMG]

OSU's James Washington if a flatt out burner. He is the best deep threat of the draft.

What Wack? I'm more confused than Vinny Barbarino .....didn't you previously say he wasn't a burner?

Who cares what misinformed people say, he catches TD passes. Who cares if he's a burner (which he's not) or a turtle (which he also isn't).

He's not slow he's not fast he's halfast. who exactly is this guy from the bills message board that you put so much faith in? H2O? :smiley1::cool:

Hi Debbie. You don’t like to be Debbie Downer, you love it! You make a person on the ledge waiting to jump look like an optimist. Dang

I’m glad the Steelers we’re looking ahead and picked these 2 guys.

AB spouts incoherent nonsense on a regular basis. And I pay no heed to it. Had he said Rudolph and Washington were wasted picks, I'd pay no heed to it. He says they're gonna be special. Ok, but I pay no heed to it either.

Then why were some so adamant that NO ONE EVER said he was a burner? Why did you ever care to dispute that he was indeed referred to as a speedster to begin with if no one should ever care? Weird, man, just weird.

Washington possesses elite breakaway speed; he finished his career with an average of 20.9 yards-per-reception. He does a phenomenal job of tracking the ball down the field, as deep-ball threats must be able to do at the next level. Moreover, Washington is surprisingly adept at going up and getting the 50-50 balls despite his shorter stature at 5’11.

By the way, the more I research him the more I like him, however in the short-term, we may be over-stocked a little at WR at the expense of other thinner units like ILB, OLB, NT. But hopefully it will all work out; crossing my fingers.

"Furthermore, Washington utilizes his superb build-up speed to consistently blow past opposing corners, and he has the necessary quickness to escape press coverage immediately."

For someone that NO ONE said was a burner, he sure get's lots of "burner" comments.

If they believe he's good he ain't going anywhere. Regardless of how long Ben thinks he can hold on, we all know it more than likely won't be more than another 2-3... At that point, if he still insists he's the general I wouldn't put it past the front office to to insert their own thanks but see ya a la favre and manning maneuver.

Don’t judge a receiver by a 4.5 time. One of own Hines Ward was somewhere around that.Jerry Rice also!I know I’m going extreme with these names and would love it If Washington was half the player as those two and many other greats who were 4.5 receivers.Just saw a clip with the head coach of OSU and he said”Washington was unique in how he got separation from the db”.”Most wide outs run ahead of the pass and slow down to make the catch”.Washington lures the db to stay with him stride for stride and at the last second accelerates to catch up to a ball that looks overthrown”.

Written by a freshman journalism major from VCU. He also touted his ability to play outside and inside in the slot, then turns around and says he may struggle from only running 9 routes and not a full route tree. It sounds like he reads a lot of misinformed, general statements from draft sites and rewrites them as an expert sports figure, when in actuality he was in HS last year. His assessment contradicts itself. All a person has to do is look at his 40 time and stats and figure the guy can get deep with means other than burner speed. Quickness used to his advantage similar to AB who also was not a burner coming out but has a knack for separation. Anyway I don't think we are overloaded at the position because we have some age creeping up with some guys. We do have some young talent in the WR pipeline though but we can't keep them all.

I'm still amazed on how Antonio Brown has emerged into one of the best to play at the position ever up to including Jerry Rice.

Jerry had consistency for a long time. Hopefully Brown is up there with him.

Pretty damn cool he's playing for the Steelers. He's exceeded expectations no one ever dreamed, and I do believe Ben needs to be mentioned as a huge part of his success as the chemistry they've developed over time together.

Really can't separate one from the other
