Well, there'll be a few lawyers in the room. Maybe we should start an over/under pool ...

It will be akin to winning the Powerball. Browns smile will be even bigger than normal.

I think the deal will be bigger than we all think. AB will get his money and the front office will be doing their job to field a competitive team with money constraints. Also, on a side note, so many fans and media say "AB out played his current contract"..... seems strange to say that he out played his $41m contract...... In all honesty, it was probably a fair contract. I'm gonna throw out a guess of 5 years $92m total value.

Until there is ink on a contract, you are never "close".

Stats like these will get you top money. He went down from last year, but he sat out the last game, and Leveon Bell took a bigger part of the game plan the 2nd half of the season. He also had no one to take the pressure off him as he did in previous seasons.

I might be a bit high, but I'm always surprised by these total contract numbers year after year. Let's say he stays at the top tier WR from the last couple years, say $15m per year, that's still $75m over a 5 year deal.... and the argument from AB camp will be "AB is better than.... XYZ" TY Hilton got $65m, you don't think AB thinks he's 50% better than TY Hilton?

He may think it , but he is selfish and that should be reflected in the deal ...The I don't care if the Coach is speaking or not attitude is probably why this Team comes out flat a bunch..I would not pay him top money it sends the wrong message to the Team...

You've got to pay him top money. He's arguably the best WR in the league. And I disagree that he's selfish. He has outperformed his contract big time but has honored it with a few tweaks by the team. He hasn't gone all diva and sat out demanding to be paid what he's worth as we've seen some do in the past.

He can be an idiot at times, especially with social media, and he's certainly a self-promoter, but I don't believe he's a selfish player.

No he knows better than sit out as he would be traded ..Coach T stated in the media he better be careful or he could be a WR that bounces from place to place ..He was all me why the Coach was speaking to the Team..As one of the leaders of the Team he should have been around the corner with his Coach supporting his message ..To not do so was very selfish IMO ...

I don't disagree that what he did was selfish AND stupid, but we need to tie this guy up for a long time with a fair contract. He says he wants to be a Steeler for life and I have no reason not to believe him.

And in case you've forgotten, not too many players in the league could have done this...

AB is a "look at me" attention seeker type of guy, I don't see him as selfish. He puts in the hard work, he balls out on a consistent basis, and does so without showing up the coaching staff, his teammates, or the Steelers organization.

So what if he whines for the ball from time to time. He's freaking good and he wants to win. I bet he thinks he's good enough to carry the team to victory. You don't get superstars without some ego. It's 1 in tens of thousands that you have a true selfless superstar. He's human and has made some mistakes but nothing so egregious that we need to look at him differently as a person about.

I'll play the game tho. 5 years 87.5 million. Literally zero chance of him signing for any less than 16mil a year so 80mil on a 5 year deal. It wouldn't totally shock me if he got 90. Between him and Bell we are going to spend about 28-30mil a year.

Jerry Rice wasn't exactly a church mouse.
Michael Irvin was a bona fide diva.

Of course you have the King of Diva's Terell Owens and he didn't win one.

Key is you can win with Diva WR's you just have to have a good enough team around them to do it.

Those guys have a few rings on their fingers.

Most of those guys are from back in the day..With the modern era it is hard to build a good enough Team and pay a WR a huge contract..If you are going to pay the QB,WR, and the RB then you best be putting up 30 points or more on a regular basis...All those stats that AB puts up don't translate into enough wins when Ben is gone AB is average he has proved that with LJ..So why pay him a big contract when this is Ben's last year at best ?

It would be the same as paying Bell a huge contract and then the whole OL quitting the next year...

i would pay him but not break the bank. players age and start going the other way without players around them making them better. his production did dip this year. ben? his production without bryant helping out? there is a point to be made with him possibly heading the other direction with his play if some of these other factors are gone. age starts to show up too in the next couple of years. he's still under contract for one more too. we could let him play it out this year and franchise him next year if it came down to it. we would know more about bell by then and also ben and bryant. just a thought. :smiley1::cool:

60 to 65 Million total is very fair IMO...I think he wants in the 80 Million range ...If so just trade him or wait and tag him next season ..70 and up is to much IMO for his age and antics..
Some Teams might pay more as they need stars to sell seats ,we do not need AB for that we need him to help us win it all giving him to much money does exactly the opposite..If he really does love the Team he will take less so we can get more pieces for the run or simply tell them he will play this season out use the money to get what we need ...
