Ask any Jets fan and they will tell you Rogers' numbers last season are a mirage. He did much of his damage in garbage time and was more focused on avoiding interceptions and protecting himself than he was in winning.

"Jet Fans" - the most unreliable fans in the world.
As I said, it's like putting panty hose on a gator to get any good word from those who wake up in the morning and first words are "F - you"
    lol...

The film doesn't say the same.

Checkdown - It means going through all your reads and nothing there, so you 'checkdown' to the safety valve...
Every offense has safety valves (old school).... or checkdowns (modern).

You'll hit the checkdown when you have a host of blue light specials running routes.

To limit checkdowns you have to have a WR(s) that can get open and/or win those 50/50 catches, and the QB has to have confidence in them doing do.
Aaron had had a lot of go-to guys, Devante Adams was the latest and was pretty darn good.
DK could be the next guy.
Aaron likes to throw to the TE too.. I'd like to see Muth's numbers go up, especially TD's.

He was also coming off an Achilles injury so who knows how much that impacted him.

I will never use the Jets as a barometer for how good a player is. Hall is a hell of a lot better RB than his stats have shown.

Some of them are like that, but every fan base has its share of clueless folks and its share of those who actually know what they are talking about. I've heard from both telling me that Rogers wasn't nearly as good as his numbers.

That owner is currently the worst...
I feel bad for Glenn.. such a great player and not a bad coach..
I just don't know if he can turn that mess around.

I am very hard on New Jersey (Jets)
I always looked for the Talisman when I crossed the bridge into that place.

I hear you. I live in New York, but close to the border with New Jersey, so I'm surrounded by fans of the Giants and Jets. Decades of losing and embarrassment have messed with the heads of Jets fans, but that doesn't mean none of them know football.

My best friend is a Jets fan. That franchise is almost enough to make you believe in curses.

When you are 5-12(2 less wins that the season before with Zack Wilson) and your offense was complete garbage all year long, this is a very bad season no matter what.TD-INT is a very overrated stats sometimes

Rodgers had like a streak of 35-40 games without a 300 passing yards at some point too

But when you have too many checkdown this is a major problem. It was a problem for Wilson with the steelers and also Denver and it was a problem for Rodgers last year and in his last year in Green Bay

I was a huge fan of Joe Namath, since I was a QB I even adopted the white shoes which was verboten at the time - only high top black shoes.
That team he took to the Super Bowl was a great team.
So at one time, yeah, I liked the Jets....
Never liked New Jersey though, still don't.

That seems to be a league wide phenomenon. 300 yard passing games are not as prevalent as it once was. Maybe due to a shorter passing game across the league and the ground game becoming more important again.

It’s absolutely crazy that they dont find a place in NY to build a stadium. There has to be a spot in one of the boroughs you could build one.

    Usually means something isn't working.
Offense isn't working, Receivers can't open, no confidence in the receivers or the Defense is just awesome.
Most QB's want to put some air under the ball.

Bill Walsh's West Coast Offense was designed as he said, "extended handoffs."
He liked to dump the ball to his playmakers and let them make the plays.
And then strike with the defense on its heels.

I do hate it as much as anybody if I see a misread and a 'dump off' pass is thrown while a WR is wide open uncovered.

Just saying it’s not that big of a deal. Mahomes only had 3 games over 300 yards last year.

    10 - 20 air yards:

    B. Roethlisberger (2021) = 50/105 = 47.6%
    A. Rodgers (2024) = 52/92 = 56.5%
    R. Wilson (2024) = 37/66 = 56.0%

Mahomes is the checkdown leader that last several years. But guess which team has the most YAC each year?

On top of receivers getting open, you can't have turnstiles on the OL causing the QB to have to dump.

The Steelers want an accurate distributor of the ball to its playmakers. That's their offense. They aren't necessarily looking for the hero ball from the QB.

Can't forget this Tomlin quote after the shootout in the first game against the Bengals:

"I don't know that I'm ever comfortable planning to shoot out," Tomlin said Tuesday. "It's just my background and my expertise. To be quite honest with you, I respect offenses and talented players, and I acknowledge when we're faced with stiff challenges, but it doesn't mean that I'll ever be comfortable in those circumstances.

"I have certain expectations because of my professional journey on defense, that I expect us to slow those things down and minimize some of that and the rare instances that we don't. I'm thankful that we have an offense that's capable of matching it."

Not a surprise for Ben...It was a huge struggle for him to throw pass over 5 yards in his last year

Yeah, the context matter but the biggest problem for Wilson in the last few years and for Ben in the last 2 seasons, this is either throw deep or throw a quick checkdown...Nothing in the mid range

For the chiefs, last year, their RT and LT was a major issue and their running game was anemic, one of the big reason why they were last in explosive play

We’re never going anywhere with this guy in this league today. We’ll continue to get our asses handed to us in the playoffs because we’re not structured to play that kind of ball and thinking you can just turn it on when you have to is a really bad strategy.
