So Tomlin can dig up Tannehill or Wentz or some other washed up former starting Qb?

Maybe he can convince Brady to don the black and gold lol

I take the high draft pick instead of getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs again.

There is a rumor that the deal is already done, and Aaron Rodgers has agreed to a contract with the Steelers. Rodgers just wants to announce the deal on his own terms (I am guessing it is April 9th in Pittsburgh, but some people are saying Aaron wants to skip all the offseason stuff in Pittsburgh)

Now, is this Illegal in the NFL. If a player and team have agreed on a deal, do they have to announce it to the NFL? Not actually signed a contract, because I am assuming Aaron is going to want to make a spectacle of the actual signing of the contract, but shook hands and agreed to a deal?

If there is a deal in place and everything is agreed upon, does the Steelers Front Office need to do anything, besides drive their fans crazy? :)

I assume they need to declare to the league when a player is on their books, but if the rumour is true I also suspect the contract only starts on the day Rodgers wants to announce it. And as the contract doesn’t start until then, they may not have to say anything until then.

Not 100.0% sure, but if it's like most things they wouldn't have to report it yet because they're currently in the rule of 51 phase of the league year.. So hypothetically, unless his cap hit for 2025 were north of $32.1M it's not causing an issue.

It's along the same lines as knowing a player is retiring but saving the announcement until after June 1, so you can split up any dead money accruals.
