You do realize the Jets trailed in just about every game those were mostly garbage time stats from Rodgers, Wilson in his first start for the Steelers against the Jets outplayed Rodgers.

Yeah, it depends on what you want. If you are DEADLY SERIOUS about winning a SB this year, like we're all headed to Jonestown if we don't at least make the championship game, you have to go with Rodgers over Fields. If you want to sit on the fence and hope for a little bit of both, future and present, go with Fields.

Being that they jut signed Metcalf to a massive contract, and Watts deal may be be even bigger, I don't know if they're willing to spend too much time on the fence.

they need to stop doing half the job and calling it done. if you bring in a rodgers you protect him. you let him use the weapons you have brought in. you add to the o-line and add another RB. draft DB's and DL and add a QB. i think O-line and DL is deep in this draft. i'm thinking you go get that CB from ND to add to JPJ.

Rodgers is 41 years old. Will be 42 by the end of the season.

Would really like to move away from old QB’s.

really blast? are you trying to put fields at that level? they had the RB, receivers defense and every other part around that running QB. he could throw too. big difference between QB's.

That wasn’t your point though. Having those things around Hurts doesn’t make him less prone to injury when he is running.

Wouldn’t want my QB running from the 70’s to 90’s. Today, I dont worry so much about it.

It sure wasn't from him not giving 110%. He is a winner in my mind. Deserved MVP

    Bills/Chiefs/Eagles/Commanders all have running/mobile QBs.

    Brady/Manning/Brees not so much.

    It's s team game.

Theres no difference Mac and more and more teams are doing well with them. I’m not seeing these season ending injuries that are happening from the dangers of running.

Steelers have two WR to rival what the Eagles have, I would say even better because GP and Metcalf are both better than Smith.

Warren is no Saquon but 5.3 ypc is not chopped liver either and I’m sure they will add to that room.

The oline is rebuilt and now they will turn to the defensive line.

Hurts has been to two SB, winning one of them. Bills are knocking on the door every year with Allen. Ravens are close. It’s not some super dangerous thing having your QB run in today’s watered down league and teams are showing you can win with them. Makes it a heck of a lot harder for defenses to defend.

Lets take our chances with a more mobile QB while our very young OL matures.

Pickett got one start for the Eagles, but was injured halfway through. They were up, 24-7, at when he left the game. The offense was responsible for 17 of those points. The Eagles averaged 27.2 points per game in 2024, so they were right on their usual pace.

i didn't say he didn't give 110%. but thats not the goal in the nfl. heck a lot of players do that. OK he didn't have a losing season either, he's right on par with MT. they put weapons around him too. why are we bringing up hurts and allen in the conversation with fields? light years apart.

they have to be good at both and reading defenses too. it's not just a one size fits all when talking about some of the best in the NFL that can do it. having a QB that can pass, read a defense and run when needed is a huge difference than what we are talking about here with fields. it can't be one read and run. why even have receivers worth that type of money if they aren't getting the ball enough. the threat of a good run game adds to a good running qb. so does the passing game. mahomes can run but he looks to throw first. he has gotten dinged up doing it. hurts has. the kid in houston has. they are good running QB's but they really don't want it to be the major part of their game unless needed. i guess we will have to agree to disagree. fields isn't close to any of these QB's we are talking about in the overall game they put on the field.

The Steelers can't match the Eagles' line and the gap at running back is huge. I'm not so sure that Pickens is better than Smith, who caught more passes on fewer targets and scored more touchdowns. Pickens had more yards, but at best, they are even. Brown is better than any receiver the Steelers have.

I'm fine with a quarterback who runs some of the time as long as he is a productive passer. Hurts can win when the running game isn't there. I'm not sure Fields can do that. He was often trying to do that in Chicago, and that's why he turned the ball over a lot more there.

My response to your OP was directed at this part:

“i don't want my qb running the ball. that's asking for trouble.”

I don’t believed Fields is as good as those other guys either. I just don’t agree with notion that they shouldn’t run. It adds a dynamic to the game that makes life harder for defenses.

I would rather they keep Fields than sign Rodgers, but that is mostly because I don't want Rodgers. He is not good enough to be worth the headaches any more. Far too much of this production with the Jets was in garbage time. When they were still in contention, he wasn't good.

To me GP is a much more talented WR than Smith. Smith has much better QB play in a much better offense.

sure it does, but so does other aspects of an offense. if that's a big part of your offense defenses will try to take that away in more ways then one. this isn't college ball. they pay these guys a lot of money to be on the field for the whole season. we have running backs to run the ball. i don't want my qb only playing 10- 12 games because we want to use him as a rb. if he CAN run fine that's quite different. most can. heck ben could get yards when it was there and no it wasn't pretty most of the time but we didn't make that part of the offensive scheme.

My wife is a Jets fan. She was so happy when they dumped Rodgers. She’ll mock me for months if the Steelers sign him.
