Well obviously ever tam, the Steelers included did not think he was worth drafting until we did in the 6th round, so every teams profesional opinion must have at least some understanding above yours, no?

I thought Rodgers would be part of the turf by now and instead he has been having a good year just getting started. Some of his cleverness can only be seen during replays. His style is more subtle finesse than Big Ben's standing in the way of an oncoming freight train. AR is making DTs grab air and miss without running through a minefield on flip flops. Well done!

Not following the logic. We entered the draft with a glaring QB need. We waited until the 6th round to draft Howard. The evidence strongly suggests that our brass saw Howard as a 6th round talent. This is different from the Rudolph situation where we had a franchise QB in place and weren’t going to spend a 1st rounder on a QB.

No of course not, there are no professional opinions. They are not professionals.

I do not see it like that. The brass was all in on Rodgers even though Rodgers was not signed. They had Rudolph signed. The plan was already in to improve the rest of the team. Khan took when it fit him.

So what's the problem?? I maybe don't understand, and You aren't complaining, if so , my bad , and I apologize.
We are in a good position this year with Rodgers, and Mason. Let's worry about next year, next year.

I see it as being in a good position with the QB room. Mike decides who plays because he sets the course for Super Bowl run. He can choose Rodgers, I am fine with whoever he chooses.
From a GM position, Khan provided him excellent options for this year and beyond. If I was the GM, I would not do that. I would not give him the Rodgers option. That is because we are not the Packers, we are not grooming young quarterbacks behind a veteran. Eventually we will have to play a young quarterback for that first year. I would always do that first rather than sign Rodgers.

I think The Rodgers option is good for a rookie QB. Learn behind a very savvy vet for 1 year and don’t get thrown to the wolves too soon. I think too many young QBs get ruined by being put into tough situations before they’re ready.

Yes, that is another way to look at it. I do not trust it though because we do not execute these transitions like that.
Also, another way to look at it is as you said, they do not view Howard as heir apparent and will draft a QB when that time comes. I do not agree with that.

Disagree...Rodgers gives the Steelers the best chance to win today. Zero chance I pass on that to give a random rookie a shot. If Steelers had the #1 draft pick or something and had a clear QB of the future, fine, but that wasn't even close to being the case.

Well, that fate would kill a 10 year vet. Nothing can prepare a QB for THAT.

If Rodgers can lead us to even just ONE playoff victory, to me it will be worth it.

    This is an excellent point.

If the Steelers fail to make the postseason, or they go one and done, how many of yinz pining for Rodgers want him back again next season?

We've seen this story and know how the Steelers will react.

To quote Denethor "that will depend on the manner of your return."

If he after the end of the season he commits to one more year then yes do it. If he ho-hums his decision and they have no clarity heading into the draft then say thank you and move along.
