I met with a buddy from high school tonight. we go back many, many years. I am a huge steelers fan but he is a season ticket holder and what I would call a superfan of the bears. we were talking football of course. I was talking about how it sucked that we lost and how we are undergoing changes.
he stopped me right there. I am gonna paraphrase what he said to make this shorter but what I received was a mini lecture.lol
he made several points and I will list them

you know going into every season you will be competitive. you have had 3 coaches in like 50 years and all of which have won super bowls

you won your division and made the playoffs.

now these are his words " you have one of the best coaches in the league and if you doubt it look around."

when you guys lose a player you always seem to draft a guy to replace him and hit more than you miss. look at us, we miss more than we hit.

the only thing we have in comparison to you guys is fan base. we are as dumb and unappreciative as you all.lol he said that cause he knows I am never satisfied along with some other people on here.

just thought it would be good to share what a truly knowledgeable fan of another team thinks about us. he truly is very knowledgeable. he played in league for 2 years and in front office for 2 more. he says he is an example of why fans cant work in football.lol

Very true. My best buddy is an Eagle fan who's never seen his team win a SB. We're spoiled, but as fans we're supposed to be and there's no apologizing for it. It's also why being a fan is so tough, as you will end with disappointment so much more than end up on top.

Heck, as a UConn alumni, I'm just as big a fan of their bball team as I am the Steelers. They just won their 4th NCAA in 15 years and I'm all pissy as they're only 7-5 this year.

    I don't want a good coach- I want a great one.
We aren't spoiled, we expect the best because we are the best.

The standard is the standard. And this organization sets the standard.

Just saw this on Cleveland.com. Appropriate for this thread and for those who want to trade Ben and fire Tomlin, Colbert, Haley, Lebeau, Rooney, Freddie Fu, and the strength coach.

    Count your lucky stars...

Agree with what your buddy said and have heard this from other fans across the country. I also agree we are spoiled. However I also believe we are who we are and always strive for perfection and that's what makes the Pittsburgh Steelers and the their reputation they have across the country. Also as soon as the team appears to be soft, they hear it loud and clear. That's not a bad thing.

I wonder if Tomlin can survive with the likes of Tommy Maddox, Kordell Stewart, Mike Tomczak, Kent Graham, Neil O'Donnell, or wait for it..........Bubby Brister as his quarterback. All of which played for the chin.

Different league then. You could still win with a good defense and a good running game. Also special teams seemed more important then as well. The NFL morphed to a passing league quickly.
