I was thinking about a potential trade scenario and wanted to get your thoughts. Do you think the Raiders would accept the Steelers' first, second, and three third-round picks in exchange for the first overall pick?

While I am not necessarily endorsing the move, it would give the Steelers a chance at a franchise-level quarterback. Simultaneously, it would provide the Raiders with a significant draft haul—totaling two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and four third-round picks—allowing them to build depth with players on rookie contracts.

    What do you think?

I don’t think it would be accepted. Additionally I think it’s a dumb idea. Build up the team so a young quarterback has every tool available to succeed. Think about the position Ben landed himself in with the Steelers. A great defense, a solid offensive line, hof running back, solid wide receivers, a hof tight end. Then compare it to say the Detroit lions drafting Stafford. The franchise qb should almost always be the last piece of the puzzle

A friendly suggestion you go back and read what you posted. Then edit it before asking for opinions.

If the Steelers trade their top five picks to draft Mendoza, they are drafting David Carr. Nobody will ever find out if this guy can play because he'll be too busy running for his life every snap. I'd much rather solidify the line: Dylan Cook was okay but not a long-term solution. Jones just had spinal fusion surgery and never looked like he'd even have the fifth year option picked up if healthy. Seumalo is gone. McCormick and Fautanu are still works in progress. Waiting until at least the fourth is the best way to ensure that no QB is safe back there.

Now let's talk about Mendoza. He is the consensus #1 pick, but how good can we really expect him to be? Reading most opinions about where he'd rank if this year was the 2024 draft class, the general opinion is that he'd rank fourth behind Williams, Daniels, and Maye - but closer to the guys behind him McCarthy, Nix, and Penix. That makes him a nice QB, but nowhere near a guy who you sell the farm to move up for.

Joel I have explained this repeatedly and the answer is no

It would likely take all of that plus First from 2027 and 2028

It appears the free education version isn’t helping you so maybe it’s time to pay for the big kids version

No ... Will Howard is going to be the future ..AR is going to sign a 2 year deal.. Him and MM are going to teach him the mental game of the NFL and how to use ground force to add zip and power to his throws..

The Team is going to draft a WR or 2 very high so they can teach Will's future WR'S how to play in the NFL..

And to address the OL we need to stop trying to get guys who don't dominate in at least 1 aspect of the game..I say you get run blockers and let the play calling and the QB beat the rush from the gun.. If you have the weapons the Defense has to spend to much capital trying to guard them ,so if your in the spread and have a quick release fast passing game the Defense can have the best pass rushers to ever play the game they can be all but cancelled..What Teams do to Watt every year in the playoffs, what the Rats would do , motion the RB on a LB quick throw big play almost anytime they needed it..Brady and what he did to our top ranked Defense ..

This is just flat wrong. The Steelers graded out to have an above average line last season. He's not really signing up to get obliterated behind the worst line in the league liek Carr did.

Personally, my distaste in that scenario isn't that our OL or weapons aren't good enough for a youngster to succeed... its that I don't think Mendoza is good enough to warrant the move. I've said it before, but there are 3 guys in next year's class that I have rated higher than Mendoza by a massive amount. Like not even close. Then there are still a few guys that I would view as close that could have a big year and move ahead of where I have Mendoza now. He's not a bad prospect... but he's not an elite one either. I'm not trading that much for that type of prospect. If I'm trading away half my draft I'd want someone like Arch Manning, Julian Sayin, or Dante Moore. You take a chance on guys with elite upside (I mean like Burrow, Williams, etc. not height/weight/speed upside like Richardson). I don't see that in Mendoza's game. He could be good player for sure, but I think his chances of being a top 5 NFL QB are about as nil as could be.

Maybe but not a certainty. Especially if they draft a QB in the 3rd.

I don't believe they are going to sign Rodgers to a two year deal.

No chance. Trading up from 21 to 1 would take at least our 2027 and 2028 first round picks plus other draft capital. And no way should we do it. Mendoza looks to be the best QB in this draft by a decent margin, but there may be 5 or more guys in next year’s draft who are better prospects.

I suspect trading 2+ drafts worth of assets for a souped up Andy Dalton is not a sound use of available resources.

The Raiders would want the Steelers 2027 first round pick not a bunch of third round picks.
