I just hope Troy remembers that really the fans love him regardless of the way things ended on the business side of things. Whatever his reasons though he has every right to do what he wants to do and I will always love him regardless. Even though, admittedly, in the last couple of years I really thought he was more of a liability than anything but given how bad Shamarko is I can sorta see why Troy kept his job as long as he did.

I sorry but the team handled it wrong. They waited for Troy to come to the conclusion that he was done. They let it leak to the press that they were waiting for Troy to retire and hoping he would so they wouldn't have to cut him. I'm sorry but that was wrong, they should have manned up and had the discussion with him that they were moving on and if he didn't retire they were going to cut him. Give him time to adjust to the reality out of respect but you make the call, you don't leak it to the press and have the fans and media assert pressure on him. Handled as poorly as the Harrison pay cut or roster cut was.

I don't know what really happened. For all we know the organization did try to reach out Polamalu in some type of backdoor way and let him know they were likely to move on. Also the issue of when the Steelers were going to release him with respect to the cap also played a big role in how the organization was playing its cards. I am sure the front office could have done things better as well, but in the end no matter what they did it is Troy Polamalu who has to come to the final decision on whether he still wants to play or not.

Yup, and that's part of the reason why I love the guy so much for everything he did. Come in quietly, get the job done quietly, and leave quietly. I'll always respect him for that, among the many other things he's done.

Besides thorn058 pointing out that Troy had previous commitments this past weekend, the Steelers web site points out that Troy is on a trip to China with others to promote the NFL and the Steelers. The Twitter feed has a nice picture of Troy, Ike, and Ryan on top of the Great Wall.

There may or may not be some kind of tiff between Troy and the organization.
But this past weekend is not proof of anything, given what a busy guy Troy is.

Good stuff. It definitely seems like Troy's absence was due to scheduling conflicts.

Having another commitment is a poor reason - I am sure they made plans for this reunion a long time ago, and other commitments can be changed and re-prioritized. Troy was the best, and a humble guy. He may just not want the attention, and has moved on and does not live in the past. We will never know unless he gives a candid interview (which I suspect he never will), so let's honor and remember him for the wonderful player and human being that he was/is.

He is getting on with his life's work. If he was mad about not getting another year so be it. He was done. The Steelers made the right call, and made the right call on LeBeau. And on Ike Taylor. Time marches on...

I am now convinced Troy is upset with the way it all ended, and has distanced himself from the Steelers...... for now.

The SB XL celebration was not spontaneous, had been planned for a while and any conflicts in scheduling had plenty of time to be worked out.

He's currently in china promoting the NFL with 2 former teammates, clark & Ike, and in a picture Troy is the Only one Without any Steelers stuff at all.... very noticable....telling.

I don't think grudge holding is a trait that Troy would possess being the deeply spiritual person he is.

And maybe he could have rescheduled but what makes you automatically think the Steelers planned day is more important to him than whatever it was he was doing? He's not Steeler anymore so there is no reason for them to be his first priority.

It wasnt a " Steelers planned day" blast and you know it. It was a planned celebration of an epic Superbowl Victory, the 10 yr anniversary of it. All and I mean All NFL player covet a SB victory and this was his 1st.

Also Troy is about family and friends and teamates, he was sceduled to do the China thing by himself but He requested to have other players join him and He chose 2 former teamates,,, just a few days after snubving the SB XL reunion celebration AND he had zero steeler related items..... Clark and Ike both represented, Clark with a steeler toboggin and Clark with terrible towel.

Im still a Troy fan, I think he's just still upset, pouting a bit, and hopefully his hurt feelings heal before the 08' celebration.

Again, Superbowl epic victory is important to you but why does that mean its important to Troy? He was there, enjoyed it for all it was worth more than any fan can hope too, hes moved on with his life, why do fans hold players to such expectations. Your views and beliefs are not his.

I think he's above those petty feelings.

In the picture on the Great Wall, he is wearing a generic black sweat jacket.

There is another picture for Sina Sports ("Great Luncheon", Nov 18), where Troy is wearing the same style of Steelers sweat jacket as Ryan Clark (with the hypocycloid logo patch).

There is another picture posted today (also Sina Sports) where Troy is with 10 kids and some coaches. Again wearing the Steelers sweat jacket with logo, and a Steelers ski hat. (Don't know if he is holding a real Super Bowl trophy or a replica.)

I read several times that TRoy pretty much hated the Steelers from AR2 all the way down. Apparently he really didn't like the way the organization was being run once AR2 took over and Cowher left. In the articles it was abundantly clear that it wasn't just Tomlin, but from the very top down .

Yup. I have no idea why all of this is getting so overblown.

Look at Ike Taylor! I can't believe he's not representing the Steelers!! C'mon guys...

I've read some of what you're referencing, but I've never read anything credible.

Well I guess the only thing we can gather from this is that Ike hates the Steelers. You read it on the internet folks so you know it must be true.

I had the same feeling and then read a piece by someone credible. Of course now I can't remember who it was written by or where I read it.

They gave Troy one more season last year when they probably should have let him go. So I don't what the deal is with Troy now and if he is still bitter and pissed about how he was let go. The bottom line is though he needs to get over it at some point and move on.
