A New League For The Hopeful

    Does something like this exist in Canada for Hockey?

    Not really because we don't have college sports like you guys in the US do. All the leagues that feed into the pros have nothing to do with college/university. In those leagues, the hockey players do get paid. It's not a lot of money but is enough for them to get by.

    As well, players at the major junior level (one below the NHL) earn scholarships once they're done playing. For every season they play, they earn 1 year of a scholarship. That way they don't have to sacrifice school for hockey in case they don't make the NHL.

    It's a completely different system altogether. We have 3 major junior hockey leagues that feed into the NHL. At the end of the season, they have a bowl game (series actually) of sort
