How ironic would that be if Chad Johnson turns out to be a hero for Steeler Nation.

We’ll see if it has any affect but if anyone is qualified to talk about this to Pickens its Ocho. Hopefully he got through to him.

A focused Pickens would be lethal.

You don't know what you're getting from GP mentally that's the problem. As talented as he is when he goes off the rails he's useless to the team.

The Steelers have some amount of power to destroy or make his career. They have him for another year on his rookie contract.

The Steelers need at least two more good receivers if they keep GP. Get rid of him and you need three at a minimum. So obviously on paper it's better to keep him.

I say keep him and if he does not improve, introduce him to riding the pine a lot more. Keep his stats down and then he can go into his free agency year as a known attitude problem person with no good stats in 2025. It will cost him millions.

Did Chad get Pickens to realize how much money he's costing himself by being a knucklehead?

Chris Henry has been the receiver that comes to mind when I think about comparisons for Pickens. What a tragedy. I'm sure Chad mentioned him in that conversation.

Truth be told. I kind of felt guilty for even throwing that out there.

Another tragedy that has stuck with me - partly because I happen to remember the build to the that draft (getting Ben a tall WR), partly my Indiana roots - James Hardy, WR, IU, 2008.

I live in Cincinnati and remember where I was the exact moment when I heard what happened to him. Very tragic. His lifestyle really brought that about unfortunately. The media afterwards made him out to be some great guy which he may have been but he hung out with a bunch of people who just took advantage of him. A very naive character so to speak.

Chris Carter started out like that and saw the light and turned his career around. I like TO and hope he works out. He just wants to be great. He knows he's talented, he just wants them to use him.

No thanks, Egbuka at 21 makes him expendable if we negotiate a trade that will bring back
a fourth rd were we draft another quality player I am fine with this.

A question for you MT supporters, don't you think MT has babied /coddled enough players
the last 15 years. He has baby set enough. I am not a supporter of MT but nobody should
have to take this ****. Get rid of him.

Gramatically "Catorce" but yours has a better ring to it. Though Loco En La Cabeza would work too.

I kind of understand the kids point of view.. Many had him projected as a possible top 10 if he would have stayed healthy.. He does make incredible catches and looks like an elite WR at times.. Now we hear these rumbles of stop changing the play witch is bs if true because anytime it was 1 on 1 our best play would be go deep to him..

I could see how this would make you lose focus ..Now add in the scheme or lack there of.. GP can see other Teams scheming their WR''S open , moving them around stacking them overloading the other side ..We did very little of that ..This would depress a good player as well..

So is GP just a Cancer or did the Steelers do a lot to create it ? I am not sure but I think we will regret it when he moves on.. IMO he will be great on a Team willing to focus on getting him the ball.. I hope we become that Team and he can become the Star he already sees himself as...

Yes his pouting, lack of focus, going rouge, quitting on routes, fighting in the end zone ect are all out there for all 31 teams to see. But they also see the amazing talent he is. And they also know that Bags Tomlin wants to run run run and pass only when needed which has Pickens getting very little action.

Some team who is in the now who throws the ball to set up the run will take him hands down. He will not succeed here.

I'm not excusing his actions. But he is a talent who needs the ball. If they trade him fine but it best be for a 2nd and a future pick.

They will draft a receiver in the 1st or second. I also can't see a top flight receiver wanting to come here.

I asked many Steeler fans and can no longer find 1 Tomlin supporter. I'll admit I got a bit enamored with the idea of only 3 HC's in SB era but F that. I lost all faith in Mike after that Jaguar Playoff nightmare.

I think that Kuup will be too expensive for the Steelers. He's had some very good seasons in the past, but the recent few have been average coupled with injuries. He has some pretty big payday years coming. So if the Rams don't eat that cost or at least a chunk of it, I don't see how the Steelers are going to want to pay that money too.

2025 will be his 9th year in the NFL. He's injured his ankle four times in the last 3 years (missed games) with a couple of those being high ankle sprains.

His incredible season was in 2021. The 3 years following that are average for a good receiver. I don't see him as being our number one for sure. He was number 45 for receiving yards in 2024.

Of the 44 players above him, these are the ones that are aged 31 or higher (Kupp is 31): George kittle 31, Mike Evans 31, Devonta Adams 32, Travis Kelce 35, and Zach ertz 34.

That is only five receivers/TEs that are the same age or older than Cooper Kupp in the top 45 receivers for yards in 2024. There were two or three at age 30. The vast majority were in the 23 to 25 range.

Based on age, injuries, and performance over the last couple years, will Kupp be no more than a number 3 receiver on a new team? Time gets us all. How much money is a number three receiver worth?

I do think that he would bring value to the team, I just have some doubts about the price tag.

I think that all the time. The guy has incredible talent IMO. Why does he bring such an attitude and lack of effort problem to every game? He has the potential to make insane, generational life-changing wealth in his next contract. But who's going to want to give him that kind of money when you can't depend on his effort always being 100%?

He's going to get another contract. Is too good to not get one even with his issues. Either with the Steelers or someone else. Who knows what the Steelers will do. But I'm willing to bet that any other team is going to have a contract that's heavily weighted on milestones. If his conduct and lack of effort get in the way, it'll probably cost him a bunch of money.
